That being said, this chapter was utterly gorgeous and heartbreaking - the hope at the beginning of the chapter and the - dare I say it? - contentment was just so wonderful and then you went and ripped out my heart with the confrontation with the demons. Sam is just lovely and hurty here - I love his confused and messed up powers and I love how he just snapped and retreated mentally. It's so painful and yet so beautiful and compelling.

There are so many things that I'm curious about - I'm fully expecting you to unveil the answers eventually though, so I'm eagerly awaiting an update.

I love the imagery that you've written in Sam's dream. The heron has now gone from good symbolism to just plain creepy. It's still great symbolism that the demon is following them through their entire trip.

Wonderful description of how everyone else reacts to Sam's nightmare. They've formed a family now, and you've done a great job of showing them functioning as a family.

You write Sam's emotions so accurately and vividly. I love how good of a job you've done as describing Sam's guilt over everything that's happened. It seems to be playing on an endless loop in his head.
