Paterson may delay NYS tax refunds

Feb 16, 2010 23:36

Just saw on the News that our wonderful Governor might now be delaying tax refunds to those of us who are getting a NYS tax refund this year. Of course if you owe you have to pay on time "or else" but if you're waiting for your refund you might be waiting a long time ( Read more... )

My friend and I knew this was coming last year when California was paying everyone off in I.O.U's

Did they ever get their money back?
And if this is the case than I demand interest on the LOAN they'll be forcing me to give them, cos you know, everywhere else you get a loan from charges interest!

Honestly -- and I'm not trying to be snarky -- but NY is in comparatively good shape if they didn't have to do this last year, as many other states did. Ours were delayed in NC.

If you're worried about this happening, it's probably best to adjust your withholding. That's the way the system is set up: If you don't want to wait for your refund, the solution is to take more cash in each paycheck. (I know you didn't know it was going to happen this time, but now you know it can :) )

Don't worry I don't consider someone having a different opinion than mine being snarky :) There are two sides to everything, and I can accept that.

I hear what you're saying but I'm afraid that we'd end up owing that way, and the winter months are the hardest for us financially (as they are for most people). I don't work in the winter-- I'm an arborist and work Spring, Summer and Fall, so we rely on my husband for income in the long winter months. This year finding seasonal work was impossible. Sooooo we look forward to our refunds so we can have a little extra money. If we had to owe it would be extra hard for us.

Anyway, that was a bit long-winded, eh? Ha! I know Paterson is trying to find ways to dig us out of a hole but when he does things likes brings in several police forces because "he's afraid for his safety" during the Canisus block party and such ir's impossible to respect him or take him seriously.

All rebates that are filed on time (April 15) must be paid on or before June 1 or you will get interest...

FAIL. I know I won't be voting for him.

And you know what's worse, he's still going to run! He's going to drive a wedge through the democratic voting. NY needs to brace itself for a good republican rodgering for a few years.

I was SO bummed when Rudy said he wasn't going to run. He did such a great job with NYC and if more Republicans were like him they wouldn't have such a bad rep.

Paterson is an idiot. I would've kept Spitzer over him any day, and I really didn't like Spitzer.

If you call record-high instances of police brutality against minor offenders (and even innocents) and the bullying of homeless people a great job...

what an idiot. Does he actually think he's going to get re-elected after pulling stunts like these??

I've come to realize that he's completely delusional!

We just got ours in today so maybe it slipped through the cracks. You guys did your taxes early this year like us so maybe you'll get yours sooner rather than later. :)

We did... I heard on the news tonight that it's in deliberation over the next few weeks, so it seems like this will effect people who file and expect a return in March and on. We filed the second week of January (on paper), and got our Federal refund already, so my fingers are crossed.
