Well, after a pretty good streak of normalcy, I went and fucked up my sleep schedule. I slept until 5:30 pm (and missed Animal Crossing events) and after touring Tumblr I came to snark. And so far this book is a breeze! It's pretty fun tearing into the BSC when they're acting stupid rather than bitchy. Stupidity is so much easier to handle than

How is Jessi even helping with choreography? She has ballet experience, not experience with musical-type choreography. They're different things. But then there's no reason an 11-year-old would be stuck with half the costume-making load, so whatever.
. . . how would she be an "Indian Princess"? I thought that was Tiger Lily, a role that had already been cast.
Poor Jackie, actually acting like a kid and having problems not revolving around needing to be the center of attention.

I wonder about Jessi's choreography too. It's same as when she auditioned. Her doing a bunch of fancy ballet moves doesn't really show off her skills for all dancing. It shows off her skills in ballet only.

Oh, hoho! That is an excellent point! Why does she not see that babying a bunch of ten year old boys as sexist, if not extremely stupid, but the Lost Boys need to learn how to do chores? I'm always amazed at Ann's incompetence.
How she gonna be able to walk through any doorways with her head that fucking swollen?
Right? And all we have to go by is her word. And yeah, Mal may be asking her about the costumes but Mr Cheney isn't. She acts like he's been discussing every aspect of the play with her to get her approval.
Mr. Cheney's gonna get so drunk when this shit's over with
He has been popping aspirin like Claudia with m&ms.

I agree that having KIDS measure people is dumb. Measurements are vital to have correct, even when making things to be adjustable.
Peter Pan without wires is cute if done right. Basically you can't act like you think you're putting on a professional production. And Annie...oh god, not that one again.
You described the rehearsal schedule better than I did, and you're 100% right about it.

Yeah, Jessi obviously doesn't know what a producer does. It's not like she's making any final decisions about how the play is done. She's not in charge of anything but the choreography. But she has this idea that Mal asking about a costume means she's doing all the work.
I always thought it seemed like a lot of work to be making all the costumes from scratch. Especially complex ones Like Captain Hook's and Mrs Darling's. And if they're only gonna fit that one person, it's kinda a waste, right? This book is such fail.

Jessi's not even in charge of choreography. Coming up with a simple little dance number, which will have to be approved of by the choreographer, who will answer to the director, doesn't put her in charge. She sure thinks highly of herself. $10 says that Mal asked her once or twice if she thinks something looks okay. That would be like me asking my husband if he thinks a gown I'm designing and making looks okay, he says yes, then he claims he's a costumer.

Hello, myself! :D
Logan says the problem with him getting thrown out of the play started because there wasn't much for the pirates to do because they're only in two scenes.
This is why cast members are only supposed to be in on the days they're rehearsing. There's no reason at all for minor roles to be there every single day, and in fact, there will be days when the leads aren't even there.
Mr Cheney tells Logan he's setting a bad example and kicks him out of the play.
Because Karen's setting such a great example? At worst, Logan should have gotten a warning.
K Ron tells Dawn to stop changing the lines Continuing to do this can result in getting kicked out of the show because it makes your reliability questionable. When we did The Outsiders (I was in that one), the boy who played Sodapop kept changing lines because he thought it as funny ( ... )

She answers to the choreographer, who has authority over her. Again, she's clueless as shit about the crew roles.
I make things. Elaborate things. I often work with the directors of shows I participate in. That doesn't make me the lead costumer. The lady in charge of keeping track of everything is the lead. Her job sucks. I don't want her job. My job's the fun job. I make more of the pretty things that makes audience members gasp. She might get to make a couple costumes, if there's time left, after keeping track of what's made, what needs to be made, making sure everything fits right, dealing with costume emergencies and cast members gaining or losing weight, last-minute cast-changes, dealing with costumes looking different colors under the floor lights, etc.
Choreography is the same. Yes, the lead choreographs, but they also have the grunt work while the assistants, even if given broad independence, have most of the fun.
One week till opening night, and ( ... )
