Inspired by lisaerins enjoyable snark of the BSC Remember, I decided to make a mini-snark about the illustrations in said book, because I'm a simple human being who prefers picture books to all those annoying words and such

-Logan? It's him staring blankly at MA as she walks towards him in the hallway. Whoever took this picture is seriously a creeper. It was probably the pedophile janitor peeking out of the broom closet. (I will award it one single point because Logan's expression is fucking HILARIOUS. He looks like he's got screaming diarrhea that's going to make an appearance at any second and here comes his crush, smiling all sweet, and he's trying his damndest to look cool and casual and not at all like he's 2 seconds away from ass-blasting all over the lockers.) Creep Factor: 9/10--I'm about to cry from laughing so hard at this!
The sad part is, I can totally see her handing a stranger the camera and saying "will you take a picture of me staring out the window while looking anxious?" Creep Factor: 15/10.--I'd bump it up to a 20, all depends on if she's gonna stick this picture in one of her school textbooks and look at it at school.
LMAO at the reference of sticking her picture inside the textbook!
In all fairness, this was one of my favorite books because it pretty much explains to me partially why Claudia doesn't like school. Early in my school years (preschool through pre-Jr. High) I had some really, really fantastic, caring and sweet teachers. I had the Worlds Best Teacher one year and I was sad when I moved onto the next grade; but lo and behold she was moved to the next grade and I got to have her for 2 more years. It was like a gift from God, I absolutely adore that woman to this day.
I only remember having one who was like the teacher who yells in the book; she yelled a lot. It was unnerving because she just would randomly yell at us. And if she yelled at one kid she would, without taking a breath, start yelling at someone else for something unrelated. And she was married to the principal, whom she yelled at whenever they crossed paths in the hall. The creep factor was high on that one.
Outside of grades, I can absolutely see why Claudia hates school. Like I said on another reply of mine, I hated school. I had a lot of great teachers throughout the years but I had a shitty teacher in Kindergarten and I think that's pretty much what sucked the enthusiasm out for me. If I'm already dreading school to start with, not really a good sign!
I'm glad you got to keep your good teacher a bit longer! As for the mean teacher, it's really beyond me why people like that work around kids. People like that really need to avoid kids at all cost imo.
this made me LOL so hard i now have to grab my copy of the book and look at all of these illustrations again. you are sooo fucking right about the creep factor with most of these photos!!
I LOVE the illustrations. Even if they're bad, I just love them because I can. The picture of Kristy, DM and Louie is so cute. Jessi and Squirt is adorable. Even Shannons picture is really good, except for the "who took this photo? Why did they take it? Were they spying on her? And why did they give her a copy of it? That's CREEPY

i actually am in the middle of reading "baby-sitters remember" because of this post! the illustrations really are one of my favourite parts of any super special. :) i haven't read this book in like, two decades, so it's been pretty amazing. lol. i really like this book, which kind of shocked me, but it made me much more sympathetic toward some of the girls. plus there isn't the usual bitchiness toward one another or creepy power trips and all of that. kind of like watching the episodes of the tv show, where they were much closer to being the good friends we're meant to believe they are in the books but obviously aren't, there's just something refreshing about it, if that makes sense.
maybe i'm just sentimental tonight. lol.
i have to read some of those old sweet valley kids books!
