Hello Mallory! Part 2!

Jul 06, 2015 19:24

Yikes! I'm sorry I'm late on this yet again! I was feeling down again and just didn't feel like writing. Which is stupid because I realised that I feel better when I keep myself occupied. Even though it's a weird kind of better as reading about K. Ron and her horrendous ego make me want to punch a hole in the wall. I'm trying to remember this book ( Read more... )

I really think Claudia was being a huge jerk with Mallory. First of all, Claudia eats a shit load of junk food, so I don't know why she's acting so concerned about kids consuming junk food. I mean, her eating habits are similar to Homer Simpson when he was trying to gain weight to qualify for disability. Second, raisins are an abomination. I'd have been like, "Fuck your raisins." Third, Claudia is probably pissy at Gabbie crying because the BSC can't handle kids when they're not being cute and perfect.

I can get what Mallory's saying about Claudia making her nervous. I always feel nervous when I have to do something in front of my boss. And I doubt that Kristy knows how to tie a tourniquet. And if there was something that the babysitter needed to know, wouldn't the parent tell them?

I just had the image of Mallory taking her siblings out and Kristy being like, "You don't have the right to hang out with your siblings on your own time. The only way you can hang out with your siblings is if you're babysitting.

Third, Claudia is probably pissy at Gabbie crying because the BSC can't handle kids when they're not being cute and perfect. --*nod* I do think that happens a lot of the time. I think this time might've been different. I think it was just one more thing to make Mallory feel like shit. "*closes eyes and thinks* I'm counting to 10. Mallory, you're just so damn hopeless and can't do anything right."

"And I doubt that Kristy knows how to tie a tourniquet."

That, or Kristy learned how to tie a tourniquet exactly 19 hours before Mallory took her test and decided to include it. Then made us suffer through her next Great Idea, which is a horrible case of "See this thing I had no clue about for 13 years and just learned about yesterday? Well, I'm going to call you a damned idiot for not knowing anything about it because I didn't either until 3 seconds ago and sweet merciful shit you're stupid and I'm so S-M-R-T."

The only time the BSC can handle a kid being bratty is when it's Karen. They just let her scare the living daylights outta Andrew and compliment her imagination. Or when she's moping like a normal kid they sit her aside and try to do what they can to make her feel better. But any OTHER kids crying is cause for them to have a breakdown.

And how are you not supposed to be nervous knowing someone is watching you and you might fail at something you really want? Hell, I get nervous gaming around my friends because what if I screw up? Knowing you are or might be judged puts a lot of pressure on you. You think Claudia would understand that since her parents scrutinize everything she does.

K. Ron would totally get mad about Mal spending time with her own siblings. She would at least make her write it up in the notebook. She's done it before.

I'm trying to remember this book and whether the BSC actually apologised to Mal for how they treated her.--I doubt it. Mallory probably apologized to them since that seems to be what happens for the most part. That's just a guess on my part ( ... )

Glad you're enjoying it! The BSC are totally Nellie level bullies. They KNOW how badly Mallory wants this. They KNOW she looks up to them. They KNOW she wants to impress them. So, they're milking it for all they got. They don't care about all of Mal's experience. They don't care that they KNOW she's reliable and a good sitter and has been watching her siblings forever. They just care about showing how much better they are than her. They want to show her that they're superior to her and make her suffer. If I can give Ann one thing, she knows how to write one Hell of a bully. Even if she's not aware of it.

If they're too young (which you are too, you vial of ball sweat) why were you going to hire Mal in the first place?

Oh holy shit. That made me nearly choke on my coffee laughing. I've been loving this snark in general but I had to stop reading in the middle just to quote this and let you know it gave me a great laugh on a day when I really needed one. THANK YOU! ^_^

Since so many of the girls got blackballed at one time or another, I really wish we had some scenes of the girls going to their parents crying about what's happening and the parent explaining to their child that you've befriended a pack of wolves instead of nice teenage girls. Yeah, I realize that goes completely against the "Best friends you'll ever have!" slogan but I still want a scene in there anyway.

Glad you like it! You're absolutely right that Mal's question was totally innocent. She didn't say to Gabbie, 'You know, the doctor at the hospital is going to kill your mom and Laura too. Bwahahahaha!' Maybe Claudia was just mad because the Perkins usually cry about the gross national debt and she's too stupid to talk about that with them.

Also, I'm with you, I would NEVER hire the BSC again if I knew the abuse they put my daughter through.

If you were Dee, you wouldn't care. Dee and John set her up for it.

And that Mal acted like she'd never seen a kid in her life. Mmm hmm! Mallory has never seen a kid in her life. Not Claudia who has no younger siblings but Mallory who has a cosmic fuckton ( ... )

I laughed like a loon at your pointing out that Claud IS a bratty little sibling! Because she so IS! Now I can just picture Mal and Janine talking about their dumb, bratty siblings together.

When I was snarking this, I was imagining Janine seeing Mallory leave upset after the dumb test and going to comfort her, and them forming a friendship.

Back then, small communities like Stoneybrook used to welcome new residents. I lived in such a town, and when we first moved in, the neighbors came over to introduce themselves and many brought over baked goods and other stuff. The theory was that you're too busy unpacking or most of your cooking pots and stuff are still packed up, so it's harder to cook a decent meal.
