Stacey did the same thing to Laine in “Stacey’s Book” - Laine went to camp, and Stacey somehow knows the exact time Laine will be home, so she plops down by the phone five minutes early. When the phone doesn’t ring, Stacey thinks that maybe Laine’s mom is forcing her to wash her stinky camp clothes. Stacey manages to wait a few hours but when she does call, she’s all panicky and asks Laine if she’s okay because she hasn’t called yet. Laine’s like, “I’ve only been home for a few hours” and although we’re supposed to think this is terrible of her, I’ve been on a lot of trips and when you get home all you want to do is shower and sleep, maybe check that all the stuff you left behind is still there. I can see checking in with loved ones and letting them know you made it home, but for the most part you feel dirty and tired and vague and just want to relax

Good grief, Mary Anne.--And you'd think Mary Anne's taken enough trips to know this shit! This scene is written as if she's a hick that's never left Stoneybrook. Not even being a smartass with that comment, I'm somebody that hasn't traveled much. I've been to a couple of other states that were traveled to by using a car--I've never been on a plane before. So I'd probably consider myself a hick that basically doesn't leave my area

I never wanted friends so badly that I’d put up with her crap.--I put up with a lot of crap from friends I've had over the years. I realize I shouldn't have put up with what I put up with. So yeah, I'd rather have no friends at all versus shitty ones

I think Kristy is friends with Mary Anne because she’s easy to control and is the only one who will kiss her ass.--Exactly. Again, just look at the reaction over the haircut storyline. Mary Anne went ahead and cut her hair and Kristy decides to punish her
