Sorry I haven't been snarking. I kind of am low on money right now and can't buy my monthly book haul (which would have included 2 Karens and 2 BSCs this month). But I have a book lying around I planned on snarking. So let's do it!

2 things before I go into the snark!:
I mention my soulbonds a lot and a lot of people are like "What the heck are ( Read more... )

Karen wants a Real English Baby Doll and I don't get it, is there any real difference between an English baby doll and an American one?

Well, you used to be able to say "I wish I had a _____ from [country]" and the _____ would actually be really different from what you could get at home and possibly very reflective of [country] instead of being reflective of a factory in China using the same designs you can find down at Walmart. So I get where she was coming from.

Now you've made me sad about dolls because the American Girl line used to be made in Germany and really beautifully detailed. Ever since Mattel bought it the stuff went completely to shit.

Incidentally, maybe you could learn the measurements for your doll and make some clothes for her yourself. It'll be a lot cheaper and you can make anything you like.

Heey AG person! Hi! I used to do them too, but got disillusioned by a lot of the more recent changes mattel's done, and then I found out vinyl mini ball joints existed so I kinda vanished from the scene. I do still have my West Germany Lissue but took off her wig to replace because it was RATTY AS HELL and I need to get around to actually doing that. Haha I do collect dolls from other countries, but I do wonder why ENGLAND, I'd have probably set it up as Germany myself, since yeah, gorgeous.

Oh God, you do not want to get me started on how American Girl went from teaching girls about history to teaching girls how to be pretty like girls in the 1800s...

Then Karen, being Karen, comes up a way to make NANCY'S ILLNESS all about her, and decides to interrupt class with a mass card signing.

I was confused by this sentence and thought Karen made everyone sign a Mass card for Nancy. Oh Catholicism, you never will fully leave me, will you?

Abby is lovely! I know what you mean about place names, haha. This is Asher, who they were calling Romeo. Pics are HUGE but he's my favorite.

He's lovely (: Abby's package name was Yuri Anno.

The only doll I have who kept her package name is Dot (she's a Lalaloopsy Dot Starlight), 'cause I thought the name was cute.

Sigh....I was the only boy I knew who had an American Girl......I got Kirsten in 1990 when I was ten. It makes me sad, too, when I see how ghetto they've gotten now. I remember when it used to be Kirsten, Felicity, Molly, Samantha, and the token black doll.

I remember the pre-Felicity days. The original dolls were so lovely. I wish I'd been into dolls then - my name is Molly and my mom kept wanting to get her for me but I was like "eh no thanks, not feeling it." Now I wish she had, because the current ones suck.

I used to get the catalog and just DREAM of having those dolls. I wanted Molly so bad it hurt, but my mom refused to buy me them. So I used the catalog as compensation and would just stare at it for hours. Maybe thats where I got my low standards from....

Addy (the "token black") was one of my favorite characters (: Molly was my second favorite.
