So I FINALLY had the chance to watch the "leaked" four episodes of Flashpoint this weekend (I was waiting for troyswann! Okay, not really, I was waiting to finish my DSSS because Hugh is REALLY DISTRACTING, though the recent bout of Flu on my f-list made my attempts at virtue sort of in vain--is there a lesson there? But Sal was here and I'm glad I waited ( Read more... )

I thought I was going to be kicked out of Hugh Dillon fandom for not having watched yet! I'm glad it's not just me, then. :) (It is goooooood, though. OMG.)

!! noooooo! *clings to fandom and refuses to leave*

(though, maybe it would be ok as long as hugh comes to take your membership card himself?

"step this way please ma'am. i just have to check to see if you have any copies hidden on your person."

Frisking. Hmmm. You know Hugh trained with cops for Flashpoint. I wonder if they gave him lessons in that sort of thing. I think probably.

So Brynn I was wondering how many songs you had. Like in comparison to say a song convention. (SING IT)

And OH MY FUCKING FLASHPOINT. THAT is what I am talking about. THAT is how you do it up right. And so much YES to this:

part of me was like, "Oh, ED" and part of me was going, "OH MY GOD HUGH I'M SO PROUD OF YOU HOW ARE YOU SO AWESOME?"

Because SERIOUSLY. ♥♥&heats;

And that picture. Sweet fucking holy that picture. Hugh is touching his guitar(!!) and leaning in and the thing is due to how they act onstage it is NOT unlikely that Hugh is about to kiss Trent. Just saying.

I think it is safe to say I have MORE songs than a song convention. At last count. (I actually looked up that song--it's some Welsh punk band, I believe? Called Mclusky? I am now interested! Though clearly Hugh was BORN to sing it. SING IT.)

THAT is what I am talking about. THAT is how you do it up right.

YES, exactly! It was so very well-done! By everyone! But particularly HUGH! Because he is AWESOME!

the thing is due to how they act onstage it is NOT unlikely that Hugh is about to kiss Trent

That is an EXCELLENT POINT. Though really, the guitar!sex that is going on there is pretty fantastic in itself. Plus I sincerely approve of Trent's S&W-era hair, so: GOOD TIMES. IS WHAT I AM SAYING.

ED. And GREG. AND ED AND GREG. I loved that episode so much, Brynn, you don't even know. I mean, yeah there was some stupid, but all the AWESOME made up for it. (Huuuugh.) That is how manpain is DONE, people.

(My only other peeve is still not knowing anything about Lewis. A whole season and Lewis gets no character details at all. Boo.)

Yes! It didn't beat you over the head, it was just THERE, and the performances held it up, and I was so very very impressed. \flashpoint/

A whole season and Lewis gets no character details at all.

I know, that is VERY strange. At least I like the new female cop they've introduced--Kira? But yeah, even she's gotten more to do than Lewis! It's so weird!

Nos and I think Kira should totes replace Sam on the team. *nod*

Lewis' job just seems to be hanging in the truck and/or around Spike (ION: I AND HEARTS Spike kind of a lot.) Lewis needs an episode! Or at least a personality. >:( Let's cut Sam/Jules time in favour of him.

But otherwise, \show/. The guests are consistently good, too. So, go those guys.

Oooh, yes! I really like that idea! Except Kira is unqualified to be The Toolish One, which seems to be Sam's role (both intentionally and unintentionally on the writers' part).

Lewis does need an episode! But Spike. OH MY GOD I LOVE YOU SPIKE. I am so pleased that he's getting more stuff to do--he was SO ADORABLE in the Colm Feore/Wendy Crewson ep, it made me SO HAPPY.

And yes, you're right--they get excellent guest stars (much like DS, I often think). Which makes a HUGE difference on a show like that.

if the writers want us to be okay with Jules hooking up with Sam, MAYBE THEY SHOULD STOP GIVING HER LINES THAT EXPLAIN VERY GOOD REASONS WHY SHE SHOULD NOT HOOK UP WITH HIM

OMG, YES!

GLOMP!!!

oh, BRYNN!!! i just...that scene, i actually had to stop watching it for a moment because my admiration for it, my reaction to the acting and my OMG, HUGH, I'M SO PROUD OF YOU thing got all tangled up and it was OVERWHELMING. just: \flailpoint/

as for jules and same? as i said to sonia, i am going to wait until those eps air properly and then i'm WRITING THEM A LETTER. that scene between them after eagle-whatever borders SO VERY MUCH on harassment, and i was desperately wanting them to explore that aspect, and they REALLY SHOULD and then like magic they're all of a sudden all lovey-together? ICK.

ION: HUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH + TRENT = AWESOME.

YES, exactly! And Mr. McK happened to be watching with us so I kind of had to hold in my flailing till he went upstairs, but as soon as he did, I turned to Sal all, "That was REALLY GOOD. Like, REALLY GOOD." *million billion hearts*

And I totally support your letter-writing. I'm right there with you--the fact that she TOLD him very reasonably that she wanted to be alone, and then he makes out with her anyway, and then they're all okay after that? It seriously creeped me out. Gah. I just... I feel like I would be okay with it if it were handled differently, but they keep making it so clear (to me) that she's got really good reasons for feeling the way she does, and it really doesn't seem like the "I say one thing but I really feel something else" kind of scenario, so... it's very uncomfortable and Not Okay!

I can't stop staring at that picture. I just. BOYS. *shivers*

yeah, that scene REALLY bothered me, not least because it is mirrored by greg's interactions with ed, wherein he doesn't just let ed retreat into his wall of "fine." it stands that kind of team-y, supportive, friend behavior ON ITS HEAD when you turn it into a sexual advance. it's DEEPLY inappropriate on about five different levels, and i was really, really hoping that aspect would be interrogated by the show, seeing as they're pretty great about piercing assumptions when it comes to most of the other characters. *sigh*

ION: OMG, BOYS! not enough &hearts IN THE WORLD.

RIGHT! That was EXACTLY the problem I had with Sam coming after Jules in the locker room, too (at the end of the episode with the girl in the mall)--if that had been Ed, or Greg, it would've been FINE. It would've been really sweet, actually. But because it was Sam, and he obviously has (to put it generously) complicated motives, it was just... WRONG. And at least in THAT case she hadn't SPECIFICALLY SAID that she wanted to be left alone.

So, yeah, I'm really disappointed they didn't show ANY repercussions from the making out at all. Because, yeah. Not only is it unprofessional AND a dick move to be demanding when you're supposed to be giving, but Jules was just so REASONABLE about why she wanted him to back off! How am I supposed to interpret that?! ARGH.
