My brother and I would like to move out of the family coop within the next 12 months and I was wondering if you guys had any hints and tips about...well, moving out?

We'd both be first timers for this and are looking for find a two-bedroom house/flat/apartment/unit/milk crate so I guess I'd like to know the following:

We're going to move from the unit rented by us now to the bigger house. We've already found people wishing to move in this unit. Is it possible to come with them to the agent, to include them into tenancy agreement and then to exclude us, therefore avoiding breaking lease penalties? We've just bought a house and are having to break lease on our rental about 2 months before the lease is due to end. We gave about 5 weeks notice, and our real estate have been pretty slack in doing anything to re-tenant the place. Like a lot of people, I live in a rented house that has an incredibly ugly, dated kitchen. Beige, beige, grey and more beige is the predominant colour scheme and it hurts! Obviously we can't paint or rip out anything major, but I'd like some suggestions on how to funk it up a bit ( Read more... )

We've just bought a house and will be breaking lease on our 3 bedroom townhouse in Yeerongpilly.
