Two very different views on women and religion

Reading Facebook yesterday I came across two very different stories about women and religion, or how religion treats women. Reading one right after the other and comparing the two was really quite interesting.

The first was a story about how Orthodox Jews are demanding not to be seated next to women on planes if they are not related to them.

I know! So much of religious persecution of women seems to simply boil down to "Cooties!" And aren't we more grown up than that yet?

Good for Jimmy Carter! (although I think this happened in 2000) I find it ironic that the SB rely so much on the labor of women and that they keep treating women as inferior (or that is one of their planks) Their main fundraiser for international missions is dedicated to a woman who went to China unmarried.
My family church (SB) is basically run by the women (including my mom) who basically ignore that part of being a SB church.

Whoops, 2009 apparently. Although it's making the rounds on Facebook again, I think I saw two different people post it.

And yeah, I don't know of a single church that isn't basically run, organized, and funded by the women of the church.

Well, in many cultures males express their superiority by hanging around in coffee houses discussing world affairs, while the women work and keep hearth and home together. One of the main reason there are so many male artistic, scientific and philosophical achievements is because women "liberated" men from having to actually DO stuff, leaving them time to think and paint and write. Superiority my arse.
