My emergency/parking brake was getting loose again (perils of living/parking on an hill) so I took Tripp into the dealership this morning to get it tightened up again. Turns out, the caliper is frozen and we need to replace the caliper and rear brakes ( Read more... )

I'm surprised that such a young Honda has a frozen caliper. Hope the fix isn't too expen$ive!

Well, it was frozen yesterday, but today it wasn't. I figured since they'd already ordered the parts, and I can afford to fix it, might as well replace the darn thing. Especially since there's no real easy way to tell if it froze up again. =P

Just for comparison, my hilly driveway is just about the same slope as yours, but I don't have a nice flat garage to pull into when I park. My brakes pretty much get daily abuse. So I'm not surprised that my parking brake wears out more quickly than someone who gets to park on the flats.

(ETA - Tripp will be six this December. Not all that young a car!)
