OK, I know this joke probably has VERY limited appeal. You kinda have to be of a certain age and from New England…. But I could not stop giggling when I saw this, so I had to share.

While surfing the spiffy new “similar images” feature of the Bavarian State Library I found this image.

That is a very odd illustration. Her right hand is dark, her left hand is pale, and she appears to be eating either a drumstick or a black person's hand! Or they could be gloves, except the one she's holding by her mouth seems to have a bit of bloody bone sticking out...:\

I know, if she weren't wearing a glove on the hand holding the fan, I'd say that thing in her other hand was a paw! But since the colors match, I'm going with "glove" for now.

Wait, i see it now! The gloves are actually gauntlets--you can see that her dress sleeves end in a ruff cuff ;-). What I thought was a bone is actually the "skirt" of the glove. Phew! Such a nice lady to be eating Long Pig!!

Fred is one of those characters that I just took to heart. I still often mutter "Time to make the donuts" when I roll out of bed too early for my taste. ;-)
