My State Is On Fire!

I left at 4:30pm yesterday to come to Tassie for Mom's 60th birthday and the airport was covered in smoke from all the fires. I just got up now after not going to bed until 4:15am to switch on the TV saying that Victoria is completely on fire! 26 people confirmed dead so far, towns abolished by the fires and it's still going. I left Mishie at home

How close is it to your place? I just saw on Yahoo that 65 have died now. How horrible! I hope those numbers don't rise anymore. :( My thoughts are with the firefighters and everyone in the area!

They're sort of close. The Whittlesea fire base is just north of myself and Nan. Maybe 15-20 mins. The fires are to the west, north and east of there. If I can find a map I'll post it.

I keep checking www.ninemsn.com.au and now they're saying the dead toll is 84! :( This is seriously bad stuff. I just found out Bryan Naylor and his wife died in the fire [very famous news broadcaster]. It's all too tragic.
