It's the Monday that keeps on giving.

For some reason, I have that sinking, rock-in-the-pit-of-my-stomach feeling that usually only accompanies the knowledge that it's Monday and I'm at the very bottom of a great big work hill I must toil and climb before being allowed to see the light of Friday. I suppose this is a normal feeling, shared by nine-to-five wage slaves the world over, ( Read more... )

I can't think of puffins without picturing this doggie. It's double-jointed and can put its nose on its own back! Maybe that's why puffins are rare these days.

But isn't it better to be a wage slave than to kill yourself working 100 hours a week?

It totally depends on what I'm doing for a living. If I was working for myself, I'd happily put in 18 hour days. It's not the amount of work I'm whining about, just the uselessness of it.

Just keep swimming, dear. The players in office politics usualyy reap what they sew and tend to alienate everyone else. Sun Tzu once said something to the effect of "If you wait by the river long enough, the bogies of your enemies will go floating by."

BTW, is that you pictured in your icon?

You're right of course, I just keep getting dragged into the fracas (and, in her case, thrown under the fucking bus all the time). Oh well. Something bad is about to go down, I can feel it, and I don't want to be around when it does.

The icon? The cartoon picture of Daria? Uhm, obviously not, but that was my nickname in high school. :)

The icon I was referring to was the one of a woman and man dancing. Would dat be you?

Office politics can really wreak havoc on my mental status. I'm glad I'm off for the most part during the summer to regroup, that's for sure. I hope your week gets better!

Lucky!! Are you a teacher or something? And thanks for the support, I need it. :)

Indeed I am! I cherish my summers like crazy. I'd be institutionalized if I had to teach 12 months out of the year.

I have a secret desire to become a high school history teacher (one of my college majors/lifelong obsessions). But I kind of hate children and would be doing it as much for the 180 days a year off as I would be for the love of history as a subject. Would that make me a bad teacher? :)
