I get confused with all the Earths, but this was great. I love charming Ollie and he was just that here, hon.

You should write them more often.

Thank you, Green Eyes! :)

Hmm, there's quite a bit of Ollie in the new arc of Rainbow's Freedom, and I intend to write more Dinah in the third arc.

But of course I might do shorter fics in between! :)

I managed to read it before work, but did not have time to Feedback.

Her dark hair was stylishly-upswept, her navy-blue, two-piece suit smartly-tailored, a light-blue pillbox hat and gloves on the endtable next to the couch.

You captured such a visual image here for me. The right colors, the right style, the perfect picture of a woman from that era in grief.

“So, the mustache is fake?”

Ollie instinctively touched it. “Yeah. Though who knows? Maybe I’ll grow a real one in addition to a beard.”

More perfection, given the dislike of facial hair through much of the twentieth century, something that still shows in military and commercial guidelines.

This is wonderfully-detailed feedback. Thank you, blackrosebard!

I'm glad I was able to capture it! It was such a different time as to what women wore when they left the house.

Yes, one of the biggest things during that era was hair: facial and length of it on the head!

Perfect. There is so little to do with a grieving, loving spouse. All the words, all the hallmark platitudes...I just love how Ollie knew nothing he could say would truly be of a comfort to her.

They say 'write what you know' which is one reason I do tend to dwell on angst. But you took this moment and made it something more, a sad piece, but one that clearly shows a move toward a transitory state for them both.*nods* I ( ... )

Oh, but this was lovely. Such a sad little piece, but that last line was beautiful, and reminded of hopeful things to come.

Thank you, Pervy! :)

Yes, I wanted to give some hope there at the end. Glad it worked!

I love your kind and gentle Ollie--of course he would have to be something other than brash and flirty at times to win over Dinah, right? And this is a lovely glimpse of it. The playing with hair color was a nice touch as well. :) And the image of Ollie in a tweed jacket with leather elbows cracked me up!

There was no one quite like Black Canary on Earth-One.

A beautifully simple and resonant line that reveals so much about how Ollie's already feeling. Really nice!

Yes! :) There's definitely more to him than just brashness and political rantings. Dinah has glimpsed into what's there and likes it. Also, she's a new widow here and Ollie is deliberately dampening down his more flamboyant personality elements, and also remembers his own grief over his parents and how people feel at times like this. I drew on experiences of my own for this.

I thought to myself, well, if we have exact doubles of people, how can that be explained at a funeral when they're coming as their civilian selves and not their superhero personas? So disguises had to be it! :)

I like that image, too! :)
