"OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!"
Carl Winslow smiled. His plan was going perfectly.
That high-and-mighty Bruce Wayne is squirming, sure enough. Good enough for him! Not only is he an arrogant prick, he’s a fuckin’ Abo. He falls all over himself trying to cater to that cocksucking Prize of his, and now a dirty Gypsy! Thieving, lying little Gypsy slut.
He checked his watch. He had twelve hours before midnight.
But first, he had someone to meet.
Carl put on his coat and cap and went to the employee parking garage, and soon was driving out to Shore Drive, the exclusive Gotham Heights neighborhood popularly known as the Gold Coast. He parked his car on a side road and began to walk.
The woods were snow-covered, the trees bare and solid as their crooked branches reached toward the sky, which was the color of pewter on this blustery day.
Feels like snow.
Well, that didn’t bother him. Let it snow. His plans were set.
His boots crunched on the hard ground and patches of snow. After an early thaw, everything had frozen again. He pulled on a pair of work gloves.
Revenge was sweet. Bruce Wayne had gotten him fired from a good job years ago just because he had hit his pansy-ass Prize, who had been putting the moves on his girl, a freewoman!
Slaves should never be allowed near a freeman’s woman. It just wasn’t right.
Well, Fancy Pants Wayne was going to pay.
Carl reached the estate for his first meeting. He scanned the small clearing by the seawall, hidden from view by a multitude of trees. No one from the great house would ever see this meeting.
Carl was of medium height, slender build, and his brown hair and eyes were nondescript, just like his face.
Perfect.
He crossed his arms and looked out at the sea, the gray-green waves restless as the wind blew.
The crunch of boots on snow alerted him to the newcomer.
Carl turned.
“Thank you for coming, Mr. Caldwell.”

Bruce frowned. “How could this secret be discovered? We were so careful!”
Harold pushed his glasses up his nose. “I was extremely careful, Bruce. If you have any doubts, it’s my neck here on the line, too.”
“Oh, Doctor, I believe that. But someone found out this most precious secret. Dick is in grave danger.”
They were sitting in Bruce’s study, the door closed. Bruce had asked Brendan to request Dick’s assistance in the garage, but he wanted to take double precautions.
Harold ran a hand through his silver-flecked brown hair. “I ran that test myself, Bruce. I destroyed the results and the sample. I don’t see how…”
“The computer.”
“What?”
Bruce leaned forward, tension in the set of his shoulders.
“Someone with specialized computer skills could have retrieved that information. When you delete something off a computer, it never really disappears. Someone who knows what they’re doing can bring it back.”
Harold sighed. “I suppose so, but who would be mucking around with my computer? Who would even suspect?”
“That’s what we need to find out,” Bruce said grimly.

“And what do you wish to tell me about Bruce Wayne, young man?”
Carl smiled. “A secret that takes the crown off his head, sir.”
Edmund snorted, his gloved fingers running lovingly over his gold-headed cane. The fierce hawk’s head glared at Carl. “He’s not royalty, boy.”
“No, but he acts like it.”
Edmund’s pale eyes glittered. “You are right about that. So, what is this big secret?”
Carl laughed. “Of course it’ll cost you, Mr. Caldwell.”
“Of course.” Caldwell smiled. It wasn’t a pleasant smile.
“I want ten million dollars.”
“Hmph, not a piker, are you?”
“No, sir. Not with this information.”
Edmund studied the bundled-up blackmailer. “If I decide to pay, how do we go about it?”
“We meet here. I’ll give you a few days to think about it, then I’ll contact you.”
“So this secret will bring down the House Of Wayne?”
“Oh, yes, sir.”
“Hear this, my young blackmailer, if I decide to buy what you have to offer, and it turns out to be bogus…” he tapped Carl’s stomach with the head of his cane “…you will regret it.”
“Sir, neither one of us will regret this transaction.”
“Let us hope not for your sake.”
Edmund turned and walked away, Carl unfazed. Let the old goat bluster and threaten all he wanted. Ten million bucks was a small price to pay to bring down the so-called Prince.
He smirked in satisfaction as he started the long walk back to his car.
