The word "homosexual" always seem a bit harsher and less friendly than the word "gay." Often implying a degree of pathology, it's a pseudo-clinical term most frequently used by those opposed to same-sex relations. Admittedly, it's rather effective. I think homosexual is less harsh because it the clinical and scientific word.

No one uses the word in slang compared to "gay"
As in "Dude that's gay." Or stop being gay.

Maybe "homo". But "gay" is more often used as a derogatory word.

I could be wrong.

What turds. Serves them right for using a silly substitution macro. Take that liberal media! That'll teach you to refer to people by their actual names! It kinda reminds me how this friend I used to know had the last name Van Dyke, and his emails were always sent to my spam folder.

I agree with you - "homosexual" sounds more foreign and detached than "gay."
