TV round up

Hi LJ! I have been kinda ignoring you this past week or so. I blame dance performances and slumpy biorhythms (seriously they ALL plunged at the same effing time--what is this shit?!).

Anyway, here's my quick quick thoughts on TV...

Friday Night Lights 5.4

Yup that's how you spell Moya. And YAY FARSCAPE. It taught me that aliens sound Australian. :)

And yes, A Human Reaction is really the start of Crichton's character series arc and it just gets better for him from here. Though I admit to being surprised you didn't think he recognised Aeryn's awesome from the beginning (though I may have been impressing my own feelings upon him! :p) He's sarcastic, but certainly in episodes like The Flax, or when he alone tries to reach out to her because he doesn't have the anti-PK baggage the other shipmates have, I thought he was quite interested in her. But like I said, I could be projecting. Either way, yes, that too, gets better from here on out. :)

Haha, well this is a classic problem of mine in a lot of ships--I fail to notice one party's attraction to the other. To me it seemed like Aeryn really liked John but he had no immediate attraction to her and just kind of teased her a bit... plus he had that blonde peacekeeper he liked who was all sweet and straightforward and a bit dim like him. :p At that stage I was all AERYN YOU ARE TOO GOOD FOR HIM DON'T EVEN WORRY ABOUT IT, JUST DITCH HIS ASS! :p I think you're right though that there was some attraction there but it played more to me like it was unconscious on his part, like he had her filed as 'not his type' or he thought he could neeeever like her (but actually did).

I'm loving the Australian aliens! They crack me up! :D I keep thinking they'll just crack open some beers and sort everything out while watching the cricket...

I really think the reason Lois went away was just so she could come back: so, yeah. More than a bit contrived, but Hawkman's part of the episode I think made it worth it. Michael Shanks makes an episode better just by showing up.

Homecoming was an awesome episode, that's the fourth one. Watch that one and it brings a lot full circle. Enjoyed that episode immensely.

Haha, yes. That appears to be the case.

Michael Shanks makes an episode better just by showing up.
Hell yeah! He has such presence. :)

Good to hear there's something to look forward to. Will probably watch more tomorrow.

I thought Lois left because of what CloneLex said to her when he scarecrow'd her.

"You are his greatest weakness." "Your death will break him."

I think she would never want to BE that. She felt she'd be a hindrance to him after CloneLex said that.

But then Hawkman set her straight.

Ha! I guess I just couldn't take CloneLex seriously enough to think that Lois would. :) I see that Hawkman set her straight though. Yay!

The police politics on Dexter are brining me no end of joy because it's absolutely spot on. That type of stuff happens all the time and if it's going to stay real there's no way that Deb and Sierra will make up. Maria messing up like this was *fantastic*, I've always liked the character because she is someone who would rise through the ranks for two reasons: she's a Latina in a Latina town and she knows how to handle the press, neither of those things means she's any good at police work. Sadly, the people in charge of precincts are often the people who have the least experience being police, they can work the political aspect and that gets you ahead a lot quicker than good police work. Right now this stuff is much more interesting to me than Dexter's storyline which is still pretty good (those motivational speakers scare me anyway).

Mmm, I thought you might be enjoying it! I know you like Maria! I definitely see why she has risen to her current position, for sure, and I can see that the exploration of the politics is well handled. And yeah, more interesting than Dexter's storyline but that's no new thing for me. ;) He is often the least of my concerns on this show. I agree that a Sierra/Deb reconciliation would be unrealistic--I'd probably respect the show more if it didn't have that, but that doesn't stop me wanting it from Deb's pov! ;) I think it was really good for Deb to hang around another policewoman who was tough and ambitious but who wasn't so... brittle, for lack of a better word.

I find that too. It depresses me. It shows such a lack of imagination on the part of the showrunners--like for them being someone's love interest automatically means you can't also be tough. :(
