TV round up

Hi LJ! I have been kinda ignoring you this past week or so. I blame dance performances and slumpy biorhythms (seriously they ALL plunged at the same effing time--what is this shit?!).

Anyway, here's my quick quick thoughts on TV...

Friday Night Lights 5.4
Wow, those Collette genes count for something, that's for sure! Go Mindy! I loved her having Becky's back after all and proving herself to ultimately be a bigger spirited person that Billy (who was taking her in out of GUILT, whereas Mindy is taking her in out of being a good person). When Becky looked over at GuardianAngel!Tim, I got all misty. :( Oh, Tim! If only you knew how much you gave to others. Also, I really miss Lyla and Tyra... I feel like either of them would be really REALLY good for Becky right now.

Luke made my heart thump with his 'I'm coming for you' line to Becky at the dance. He better keep his word! I'm also enjoying seeing Luke enjoy his success.

Vince and Jess are the centre of the show for me now, though. Vince's struggle with his father is just wonderful. I am starting to feel sorry for his dad a bit, though I'm also still suspicious. It seems too good to be true... what led to this turn around in behaviour? I can't help feeling like son is leading father a bit here, that the father's good behaviour is in part a response to his son, especially with him turning up at training.

For Jess, I'm both excited and angry. Angry that Billy takes her ideas and spins them as her own and that she is so desperate for connection to the team that she doesn't even mind. Arrgh, show do not pit my favourite chick against my least favourite dude on this show! I will get ragey! Also, I don't want Jess and Vince to break up! Please make them better! *puppy eyes* Hopefully this is a struggle they will manage to see through...

Dexter up to 5.9
Not much to report here except my continued extreme devotion to Deb and predilection to see everything through her eyes. I was really enjoying her friendship with Sierra and I am now very sad that the bitch stabbed her in the back. :( I want a Sierra/Deb reconciliation before this season is over, please! I also want Quinn to kill/silence Liddy to prove his love for Deb. This show makes me want some weird stuff! Because yes, despite Quinn being generally a total douchebag, I am finding him very enjoyable now he is totally and utterly besotted with Deb. I guess I just want her to have someone that loves her completely and isn't, you know, a psychopath. If there was a better contender than Quinn I'd probably trade him in in an instant (I guess Deb would too) but I also kinda get that Deb does like fucked up guys, she's programmed that way, and at least this fucked up guy really adores her. The more Quinn acts conflicted over pursuing Dexter and being with Deb, the more I like him. Carry on, dude!

Maria is driving me NUTS. I'm sure she's a very well crafted character but damn the egotism, I just cannot take it. Batista was also driving me nuts when he was being the world's most annoying husband, but now that he's in Deb's corner I'm finding him ok again (OMG, yes, I'm so easy!).

My second favourite character is definitely Astor and I am loving her going all emo!teenage-rebellion on Dexter. It actually gives me an 'in' to Dexter because I can see how much he cares for her. Yay!

As usual, I am quite detached from Dexter's actual journey, but I do find Lumen far more interesting than the previous two seasons' arcs. Although I find the gang of high-class rapists to be a bit... implausible? I don't get them. But it doesn't really matter because I'm not watching for that part of the plot. :) I also don't really 'get' Lumen, but I see that she is kind of Dexter's ultimate fantasy: Rita but a Rita who can share fully in his secrets.

The Vampire Diaries: 'Rose' and 'Katerina'
It goes without saying that I'm still loving it all. But! OMG, how dumb are the Salvatore brothers to leave that guy staked to the door? CLEARLY he was not dead. Oh well, I can forgive a few slip ups as the stakes get upped and we uncover the Bigger-Bad-than-Katherine. I was happy to get more Katherine backstory at last, and I'm enjoying the new character Rose well enough. It feels like the show is transitioning at the moment, so I'm sort of just waiting to see how the pieces settle.

Smallville 10.1-10.3
*coughs self-consciously* Yeah, I finally plucked up nerve to watch the first three episodes of the season! Why did Lois go to Egypt? Like... really? Why did she go?! I don't get it! I know Perry invited her and it was a career opportunity and all, but I don't buy it. She'd just found out about Clark! She was having a BLAST of a time playing the 'I know your secret but you don't know I know' game. Why go away?! Why?! You are SO CONFUSING TO ME NOW LOIS, WHAT IS YOUR CHARACTERISATION?, I DON'T EVEN KNOW!!!

Anyway, I did kind of enjoy her and kind of enjoy the Clois and I definitely enjoyed Hawkman... so I don't think I'm actually complaining, I'm just... very emotionally adrift these days. Everything is foggy and intangible in terms of character motivation.

Except Oliver's... I'm pretty clear on Oliver's, though I hope to god that this whole season is not going to be All About Chloe in absentia from his perspective.

I thought I disliked Cat and then I decided I liked her. Maybe. She is amusing and different at least.

Apart from that I don't have strong emotions about anything. Yet.

Lip Service 104-106
Still completely smitten with Frankie/Cat! OMG the trainwreck-ness! It's going to be soooo painful! I really really like Sam, I like her more and more with every episode and I'm going to be really upset when Cat breaks her heart... but, omg, that scene where Frankie and Cat went back to their school? And then Cat set it on fire accidentally?! \o/ And then Frankie chainsawed off their initials?! OMG! I was so bouncy when Cat ran out on Sam. OMG, it is WRONG so WRONG, but I love it. I love them, I love the sadness and heartbreakness. Mainly because I love Frankie and she needs something good in her life so much. Her family story is so awful... and she is being so brave and trying to face up to it all. :(

In other news I have been watching the first season Farscape. Everything is as people described! The bodily fluids! The Australian accents! So much LOL! And I'm getting really hooked in, even though I have been watching it with half an eye only while multitasking most of the time. LOVED 'A Human Reaction'--that episode had me in stitches at first (scary!Australia!! evil government spies on Bondi! LOOOOL!) and had the most hilarious Crichton moment of all time when he found it impossible to believe that an Australian would not know who won the superbowl. LOOOOOOOOOOOL. Dude, no one CARES about your sport here! I would bet money on not being able to find ONE Australian who knows who won the superbowl in a hundred. But then that episode turned dark and cool and actually made me care about Crichton for the first time really. I feel like it was a turning point for him in relation to his situation and consequently where his loyalties lie. Before my main feeling with him was impatience at his inability to appropriately recognise Aeryn's awesome. I am happy that this appears to be changing. :D

Also I really like Moya (is that how you spell the ship's name?) and her pregnancy. Cool concept and I love the growing attachment of the crew to her and to each other.

I would ramble more but I'd rather go back to watching.
