Wow. Just WOW. I knew this was going to be a smut chapter, so I had no idea it was going to leave me such a mess of emotions! This is just so much more than the sex, although the sex is very, very well-written. (As always.) But there's so much sweetness and tenderness and vulnerability and just plain love here that I honestly had a lump in my own throat at several points. The physical nakedness is nothing to how emotionally stripped they both are here.

I love the feeling here, too, that this is, in a way, as much a series of firsts for Vince as it is for Howard. Yes, it's the first time Howard's allowed himself to be touched this way, but there are new discoveries for Vince, too, like his surprise at realizing that it feels good when Howard kisses his collarbone, or being overwhelmed with emotion at having Howard gently stroke his face. He's physically experienced in a way that Howard isn't, but I get the feeling that this Vince hasn't really ever been cherished before, so this is something intense and new and unfamiliar for

Thank you once again for your fantastic feedback and for understanding so clearly what I was trying to do here - yes, I wanted this to be new and surprising for Vince as well as Howard, and yes, this Vince knows plenty about sex but not so much about love, and yes, Vince does want to play fair and not take advantage of the fact that he can magically see into Howard's head and so he's choosing to be honest about having read the list and about his own shortcomings.

The facepaint/defence mechanism thing just seems to me to make a lot of sense. I've known people for whom it worked in exactly that way. It's Vince's way of dealing with a world that often seems hostile and confusing - and it's the equivalent of Howard's 'don't touch me' reaction, which is why Howard is able to understand it so well.

I loved them flashing Bollo - with Vince's hand in his, Howard finally has the confidence to be brazen, and I bet it really made Vince giggle too...

Don't hold your breath for No. 7, it's still several chapters away!
