This is how amazing this fandom is. I like. Sunday i was like "i cannot handle this without diligent notes" so i made a draft email to myself--

and like. every time something FABULOUS crosses my path i drop the link in that email, so i can keep up for later posts, you know. and even though i have barely had time to really follow the fandom, with work and RL distractions and lack of time, there are already over 15 freaking links in that email. AFTER JUST TWO DAYS. of, you know, pretty casual exposure to the fandom! it is INSANE.

For example! AUs! Today, I read four absolutely amazing ones. (ETA: and that's not even counting the other hipster artist AU*, the mafia AU, the Regency AU, the heist AU, or the Vampire/Goatherder!AU.) everything is amazing all the time. it is overwhelming and bewildering and incredible.

* this is already a fandom where multiple instances of weirdly specific tropes exist. or, as tropes & I have said, it is seriously like 6 years of SGA fandom all compressed into 4 weeks of high-intensity postmodernist squee

Omijeezus. o_____o I really didn't expect this! This...! I can't- what- THANK YOUUUUU?!?! (I enunciated that one weirdly in my head, and only adding questions marks would make it remotely similar sounding.)

I'm really just shocked and super-smiley right now because you wrote an entire post about one thing I did. It's such a strange feeling, since I always thought of the things and people you rec and flail about on your personal journal were... untouchably talented because I have NO IDEA how to write fanfiction, or meta properly, even though I drink all of that like water. I follow where you lead me, and now there's a whole post pointing to my barren, save-for-two-entries journal.

Thank you thank you THANK YOU. Inception fandom seems to be the best thing that's happened to me this summer- and things and people like you is why.

this is how i feel! i haven't actually done anything so far really in this fandom apart from BE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT IT! and i co-wrote one fic, but that feels so inadequate in the face of ten million fics by weatherfront, or, like, cherrybina turning out gorgeous fic after she's been here like A DAY. haha.

so the fact that even just doing that, showing up and being excited and talking about things, is enough to generate fanart--especially fanart that's SO LOVELY--is just boggling my mind. this fandom runs on a kind of self-generated energy that i've never had the pleasure of being a part of before. it's just incredible. it's SO NICE. it's so --ahhh, you are just the nicest. <3333 THANK YOU SO MUCH. ♥♥♥!

idk idk i think there's something in the water with this fandom. Cathy and I keep, as in, at least once a day, discussing something about the film or tangentially related to the film, and then discovering that within 24 hours of our conversation, someone has written a fic about The Thing, whatever that is.

So it makes TOTAL SENSE that this is happening with you, too, haha. I think it's just. something in the collective zeitgeist that makes the magic happen.

because obviously MAGIC IS THE REASON. :D (and omfg how scarily accurate is that love addict/avoidant chart. AT LEAST FOR RELATIVE VALUES OF ARTHUR/EAMES *rolls the die again and again*)

I just love reading about this, as fandom mirrors real life (fandom blow ups vs community blow ups) and I've been watching with glee as my personal solutions have bubbled up out of fandom's great meta discussions.

So, the reflective reading/writing that pins us with all the things we want/love/need is something I have seen in my own reading habits for several months (years? oh my) and, well, yes. This whole fandom is so very much a yes, but the place/purpose of ourselves (as readers/writers/squealers) in fandom is yes too. I'm glad to see it's a yes for others :)

Plus, you're adorable when you squee over shiny awesomness.
