One snake, one lizard, and several instances of tiny dogs or cats with their heads sticking out of a tote bag.

We have a regular, though, who brings his dog in all the time. It's a Norfolk terrier called Muffin.

Yeah, at various places I've worked I've seen service dogs, dogs in purses, dogs being carried, and dogs we had to ask to be carried, plus one tiny kitten who climbed all over my register. And the store I'm in now has two resident cats (I've also been a regular customer at one that normally had SIX).

Trying to remember now if I've ever had a snake or a bird come into a store I was working in. I know I've seen people out with snakes and birds.

A love bird, sitting on a little boy's shoulder.

Every so often, it would chirp. LOUDLY.

you guys win. i've seen terriers smuggled in bags and baby carriers and snakes and hermit crabs. that's about it.

i think i'd die if someone came in with a tarantula. a bat i could handle...

I think ours was a ferret. It was a delicious colour, like honey fudge. It just sat on its owner's shoulders completely unphased by anything.

Although maybe it's not such a strange pet. A lady round the corner from my house walks three ferrets early on nice mornings.
