Eugh. Sounds like Twilight has started an avalanche of creepy romance stories. DO NOT WANT.

Interestingly, they were both published in the same year.

I wish you would spoil the ~speshul snowflake~ part because I'm not gonna go out of my way to look into it, but I am mildly interested. I think I just want some lolz.

SPOILER: Taryn is actually Lord STD's daughter! Apparently, he slept around to ensure that out of the many, many, many bastard children he has, one of them will have his magical powers and be his heir. Taryn is that special someone.

Did you miss the picture of the book cover with the title and author on it at the very top? Maybe it's not showing up for you.

It's Sign of the Crescent by Debbie Federici.

Well, nothing I can do about it. ^^;; Not my post after all.

I can see it fine though. Maybe it's blocked on your browser? *is totally clueless about computers though*

Sounds like an interesting premise that fell short. Maybe in the hands of another more competent author, this might have been excellent.

Definitely. This author wasn't even creative enough to name the worlds and people without sounding fantastically cliche.

It did have potential. It was why I bought it on the belief that it would be a good story. Serves me right for not reading the first page and see its quality. I stupidly just read the back of the book and bought it just on that.

Oh, yeah, it would have been interesting but in this author's hands, it was suppose to put more complexities to the protagonist, but it could have only worked if she layered Taryn more. When she revealed the twist that the villain is Taryn's biological father, it was more formulaic than anything---she was writing it as if that was supposed to be in an epic more than anything rather if the the story would benefit from it.
