I know this probably doesn't mean a lot because it's coming from someone you don't know well, but I just need to say that I am angered and affronted on your behalf. Such treatment is unconscionable and dehumanizing and I am so sorry that you had to endure it.
To think that it is okay to treat people like they are meaningless in an effort to cover their own mistake in budgeting is outrageously and disgustingly arrogant.
I wonder where such a sense of entitlement comes from.
ugh, i don't even know what to say. *kicks those people* you shouldn't have to put up with that shit. ♥
to answer your question, i don't think maturity plays as big of a factor as familiarity or laziness. eventually i imagine one gets too old, too comfortable, too focused on other things (i.e., lack of caring) to spend their energy getting upset about office politics. that's not to say that they're better, because personally i would rather have my pride, but that might explain why some people handle it with less passion than you or i might display.
and for what it's worth, i think that having passion for your job is an excellent quality. hardly anyone does anymore, so when i see someone who actually gives a shit i automatically respect them no matter what their duty is.
in my opinion, they didn't deserve your presence at that event. ;)
Wow...you are too good of a person. I'm impressed to see that you manage to keep on trying despite all of these situations thrown at you. Ganbare!! I hope that we can hear some happier stories soon!
