I've worked up to running1 three miles every day!

You are an inspiration. I ran the other day, and I plan on running soon again...And possibly really getting into a habit of it! This surprises even me, whose policy has been to turn around and fight to the death anything that I should be running from, even such natural phenomenon as, say, avalanches, which technically can't be fought successfully.

My "fight or flight" response skews so heavily toward "fight" that it would not be unreasonable to worry that I will meet my end attempting to have fisticuffs with a speeding car, so I'm hoping that the improved ability to run will encourage me to try this "fleeing" thing more often. If it's still coming at me after 5k, though, it's time to throw down.

You know, I think I can appreciate that. Perhaps if my flight instinct were conditioned a bit I might not try to tackle a large flaming couch in my volunteer duties. I think I too should start running (or doing something similar) on a regular basis. Forget about improved cardiovascular health, the conditioning of the flight instinct alone is reason enough.
