I really hated that a character as strong as Padme was supposed to be just died like that. No will to live? You just had twins, dont you think that should give her the will to live? I dont even think she knows obi wan "killed" anikin so she dies because of what Anikin has become with no effort to change him, or help him, or take care of her kids. What a load of crap.

And how easy would it have been for her to have been mortally wounded instead? Of course, from the way Padme had been lounging her way through the movie in a vaguely concerned daze, I can't say I'm surprised her death sucked, too. I mean, weren't she and her illogically erect nipples doing some serious fighting in the last movie? What happened?

Well, considering Lucas's propensity to screw around with his films, I'm hoping he uses his powers for good for a change and edits Robodoc's "no will to live" line into something less... stupid.

Lol. I see someone has newsgroups or emule. I didn't notice the change in Padme's character until I was watching bits of Epiosde 2 with my sister. Damn. I guess having your secret husabnd whom you love more than life itself betray you, kill the Jedi, and small children, and overthrow the government you fought years to protect just makes you lose the will to go on. But it does seem kinda lame that Vader's throat grab didn't injure her at all.

One might say that the weather when I watched RotS was a bit torrential.

That's what really irked me about Padme, though-- it's like her relationship with Anakin ate her characterization. I mean, Obi-wan is betrayed by the man who was like his brother, sees the all those dead Jedi children firsthand, watches the whole Republic go to hell, and still goes to kill Anakin because it's what has to be done. Padme? Actively decides to die rather than deal. I mean, if she has to die for plot reasons, she at least deserves a little dignity.

Vader's Force-choke as the cause of her death would have made more sense and fit better thematically, with the added bonus of not having Padme come off like the heroine of a Victorian melodrama. I'm really not sure what Lucas was thinking here, but I suspect he was smoking the same substance that inspired half his changes to the original trilogy.

Or, come on, even died in childbirth? I'm sure I'm not the first one to suggest it, nor shall I be the last...but come on. At least mortality through childbirth would...not suck as much.

Though I like the Vader choke idea.

Anyway, haven't seen it yet, will soon. I already know what happens, though, because (1) uhh...Episode 4? and (2) It seems that everyone already knew the whole movie plot, start to finish, and gabbed it out loud at seemingly random times as much as two months before the film opened. Honestly, I think I overhead this one on a Milledge bus...

Sorority Girl #1: "...and I can honestly say I was never that drunk before in my entire life. I never did find that squirrel...

Sorority Girl #2: "Padme dies when Luke and Leia are born, and Anakin gets mutilated when he catches on fire with all that molten lava around!"

Sorority Girl #1: "What the hell are you talking about? Hel-lo! I'm talking about how wasted I was! Besides, lava is molten rock, you fool. Molten lava is redundant...heck, it doesn't even make any ( ... )

Yeah, Padme makes for a pretty tiny primigravida, and it would have been no trouble at all to create complications from her giving birth to twins. Heck, she could have died from a totally random infection and it still would have sucked less. No biscuit for you, George.

By the way, overhearing a conversation like that would almost make up for being spoiled. Just hearing a stereotypical sorority girl catch the redundancy in "molten lava" would be worth the price of admission.

Well, I saw it this weekend...Meh.

I think it was better than most of Jedi. Jedi was kind of Lucas' dangler. I didn't quite get the whole story told, but I only have about 30 minutes of story left. Wait, the Wookie planet is too expensive? 20 minutes ( ... )
