It's a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We woke up early to head down to the voting booth before the masses. We even left before enjoying our morning cuppa! Luckily the lines were short and we hurried back for a decent breakfast

What did you think of the election result? I was still under the impression Sarkozy wasn't popular because of all that stuff last summer that was basically his fault... I need to read the papers more methinks.

I won't go on too much about the election result. Let's just say that while Sarkozy was very unpopular with the rioters, he was quite popular with people who want order, and they outnumber the rioters. He's presented himself as an ambitious reformer, which is quite unusual for a French Conservative politician, and while appearing tough on crime, etc. he's also seen as a "mover and shaker". Anyway, at the moment, the "candidate of the people" is having a nice 100,000 Euro holiday on a private yacht between Malta and Sardinia.
And, no I didn't vote form him.
