Hello my name is Blythe and I am a blogging addict...

That was the twitchiest 5 days of my life!

I love my blog. I love the mates that I have met through it. And I miss the stories and the art and the gossip. It would be heartbreaking to start up again on some other site after all of these years.

If the Russian branch of LJ continues to experience these DDoS attacks, I will have to move to another ( Read more... )

Where, do you think? Tumblr has some good features, and is very 'integrate-y'. And there's Blogger...

I quite like LJ, I would appreciate some reassurance from management, though.

I was considering Blogger - I'm not sure that Tumblr is what I'm looking for. I also have a Dreamwidth account but that's not great for universal access.

I've had my blog here for almost 7 years. It would be very upsetting to leave. And YES, MANAGEMENT REALLY OWES ITS USERS AN EXPLANATION/APOLOGY/REASSURANCE! The fact that I had to go onto Twitter and get info from a more savvy techie there to discover what was going on IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. I don't think that it is too much to ask that they update a status page once every 24 hrs at a different URL during a crisis like this. It would take 2 minutes!

So, I would prefer not to move things... but I vote for Blogger! Mainly, because I've been using Blogger and already have a mirror minouette blog there http://minouette.blogspot.com/ (cause I've been paranoid about Russian management for some time). It has some really great user tools. It supports java and flash and it's FREE with NO ADS. It's never, in my experience, gone down. It's easy to run multiple blogs, it has a great interface, easy uploading tools. On the downside, it's less useful for the social side. You can have a private blog, or a public blog. It doesn't have the 'show this post to group of people A' and 'show this post to group of people b' tools... but maybe it's just a matter of time and you can make private posts. Also, I don't want Google to take over the world. However, I plan to start migrating my archive over there ASAP.

After navigating several screens indicating "this post may not be suitable for minors", I was expecting risque photography or scandalous prose from B... then I realized LJ was only doing that because LJ hadn't actually logged me in properly for some reason ( ... )
