That was the twitchiest 5 days of my life!
I love my blog. I love the mates that I have met through it. And I miss the stories and the art and the gossip. It would be heartbreaking to start up again on some other site after all of these years.
If the Russian branch of LJ continues to experience these DDoS attacks, I will have to move to another site. I understand that the attacks are a result of a much larger battle over freedom of political speech in Eastern Europe, but - selfishly and frankly - I can't do anything about that. Realizing that this site is vulnerable to this sort of malfeasance and not being more proactive about security OR keeping their users informed as to status updates is a major flaw in LJ management. I'm not interested in the politics or the excuses; it's about customer service.
I'm steaming mad about being locked out of a huge part of my daily online life, and, as a CONSUMER, I will take my business elsewhere if service does not improve in the wake of the DDoS attacks of this year.
If I move to another site, I will let my peeps here know about it and I will continue to follow your blogs as best I can. I will also miss you. Let's hope that LJ can learn from these events and secure themselves better in future.
