Monday, Monday - don't get that day....

Sep 24, 2007 18:42

I re-made a chart at work today. That took 40 minutes. And then, I waited.

And waited.

And waited.

I didn't do anything the rest of the day. Apparently, no one needs Powerpoint done todayIn other news, Marcel Marceau, cliched french mime of legend died on Saturday at age 84. I hate clowns, and mimes are worse - they almost delight in pissing ( Read more... )

I almost posted about Marceau. He was actually brilliant... Have you ever seen the piece he did where he was everyone in a park from the children to grandmothers? It's not his fault that most of the mimes who were inspired by him suck!

I don't even know your friend Reynardin and I'm busy doing the happy dance for her. Getting to do something you like AND to get paid for it? Fabulous!

seriously, I make no distinction between clowns and mimes. I'm afraid of clowns, and I've never met a mime that I didn't want to belt in the mouth.

R. really deserves this job - she's been working hard for a long time to make this happen!

Re. MummyBaby: well it is Riverdale enit?

Er... umm... I hang out with musicians.

David Bowie was a mime. Did you know that?

Ken Danby died too.

You live with a musician - which is probably worse in the eyes of the T.O. Star....

Bowie overcame his mime time - much to the world's great satisfaction and relief.

Don't talk to me about Ken Danby - he's as visually interesting as Robert Bateman. Highly skilled, but deadly dull. His goaltender prints are probably hanging in half the rec rooms in Canada, right next to the beer can collections and the singing mounted fish gag gifts. *shiver*

re. musician: in sin no less

re. Bowie: I'm not sure he views it that way

re. Danby: granted, but you know, he was strangely endearing. Bateman is also extremely dull as an artist, though personally, he's quite nice. He lives near Sidney, B.C. and thus, I've met him. If artists must be photo-realists I prefer those with something a little off, like the hidden menace in Alex Colville.

Me too - I was obsessed with Alex Colville in high school. I even went so far as to buy a ticket to one of his openings in Yorkville so that I could meet him. He was old and more than just a little amused at my fervor.

Yes. In honour of MummyBaby: one (2?) antique Peruvian mummybaby (ies?) complete with "with a peculiarly elongated cranium (dolichocephaly)" from the 1851 book, 'Antigüedades Peruanas', by Peruvian museum curator Mariano Eduardo de Rivero and Swiss naturalist Dr Johann Jakob von Tschudi via BibliOdyssey.
