This summer, Bywater Books in Ann Arbor, MI, ran a web poll asking readers to nominate and then vote for the Best Lesbian Novels of the 20th Century.  This is their final list:

Yay! That's great!

I would also add to the list Confessions of a Failed Southern Lady by Florence King. Though it's tight between that and Southern Ladies and Gentlemen.

I'd have to agree, though I'm fondest of Southern Ladies and Gentlemen. I still giggle over the difference between the southern and yankee "spinsters" ("Hmph. Any fool can get married. Believe I'll stay single.")

I just friended beautifuljoe and saw "blueterraplane" on her friends' list, and thought it likely was you when I saw your profile. **Congratulations** on making this list. One more Melissa Scott novel I'll have to add to my always-too-tall stack of books to read.
