Writer's Block: Timeless tales
Beautiful Joe by Marshall Saunders written in 1894 it was a parallel to Black Beauty -- both were given to schools in great numbers to help prevent cruelty to dogs and horses. My great-grandmother received one and in a dark time in my childhood I found it and consumed it whole!
