Holiday Bakestravaganza

Dec 17, 2008 10:01

Thanks to all those who commiserated with my wheezy woes earlier this week. For the record, I broke down and started a course of the steroids, which has improved my breathing tremendously. Better yet, the weather is cooperating for once, and we got a nice amount of snow last night. Between the lovely, snow-covered landscape and my improved ( Read more... )

Hee! Thanks. ~hugs~ I have a ways to go, but I'm making good progress. There's something soul-satisfying about baking cookies on a day like today. It puts me in a good mood.

Ooh, I hope the m-i-l enjoys the Pumpkin Spice Cookies! Did you do the icing for them? I do like those, but they got trimmed from my bake list this year. I have to rotate things in and out so that nobody gets sick of the selection. (Except for the Chocolate Toffee Bars. When I don't make those, everybody whines.)

I must have missed your wheezy woes post earlier. The partner chick hates steroids, even as she (however grudgingly) admits that they help.

Here's hoping your breathing eases soon.

Oh, and I'm adamantly not thinking about holiday sweets. Just saying.

Oh, I wouldn't say you missed much... just me whining about not being able to breathe because the weather around here has been up and down so much. But yeah, she's right: steroids suck, but they work. I hate to say it, but I've never encountered anything else that was as effective. I'm breathing much more easily now, though.

Heh. That's probably a good stance. If I didn't have guests coming tomorrow, I might not be baking up a storm yet, either.

Thank you! If nothing else, the house smells heavenly, like butter and sugar and almonds.

Hee! Oh, I wish... although I might not mind those knee-high red boots she wears. ;-)

I think I'm going to be very tired tonight, though. I've done everything but the gingersnaps... dunno if I can squeeze those in tonight or not.

Youch ... Sorry for the wheezies, and the not-fun of having to deal with steroids. :( (And for missing the earlier post; the past two days have passed in a bit of a dizzy, nauseous haze...)

OTOH, I LURVE my flist. Not only because the simple mention of baking fragrant, sugary treats gives me yay!, but also because of all the excuses to google new recipes aplenty.

Thanks! Honestly, I'm glad that I started the steroids, because they've really made a huge difference. I haven't even had any of the usual nasty side-effects, so it's a win-win. *g*

Yay for new recipes! Glad you're enjoying reading about my baking exploits. I'll see if I can remember to take a few pictures. I've posted recipes for some of these, but if you want others, just ask. I just got myself a nifty conversion table, so I can even give you the proper measurements.
