Why are all Snape panels so awful? We should make one of our own in the future -- show 'em how it's done. ;)

I'm so glad you had a great time and that you made it home safely. I wish I could have been there with you!

We had exactly the same thought: we need to make our own Snape panel, because somebody has to do Snape right! Er... hmm, I didn't mean it quite that way. ;-) But yes, we need to form our own Snape panel. This one was downright painful, although in all fairness, the other programming I attended was very, very good. (Aside from one single panelist on a Deconstructing Romance panel who basically called Ginny a horrible whore for daring to kiss boys other than Harry. That was the point at which we walked out.)

I did have an absolutely amazing time, and I wish you could have been there, too! I'd love the opportunity to meet you and squee over you. :-)

Now I'm already making plans for Infinitus...

I've known fans who reacted that way to Ginny before, and it makes me mad. Ginny was really a better person for it! Harry wouldn't have fallen in love with the Ginny he originally met, who had such a crush on him she would panic and run from a room without speaking to him. She needed to get more of a sense of herself, and that included finding out what she liked in other boys.

I completely agree with you, but this person was far too unreasonable to understand the truth of that. She was of the opinion that Ginny's only reason to exist was as a receptacle of Harry's love!

Welcome back! We tried not to trash the place over at hpcon_envy. It was quite the party and is still going on. It's amazing how fast you can make a place presentable with a shop vac and a squad of house elves! Glad you had fun. Get some sleep and then you can tell us all about it.

Thank you! I'm glad to be back, although I'm also feeling the post-Con letdown this today. Well, it was inevitable. A bit sad, missing everybody, wishing it had lasted longer... but then, there's always next year!

I think you all did a lovely job with the lively party at HPCon Envy, and I'd like to see us all keep it going as long as possible! Thank you for all your help in making it a party to remember. :-)

Yay! You're home! :) Yikes on the medical emergency on the plane. How chilling...

I couldn't have asked for better roomies. Who needs sleep? *grins

I hear a ladybug buzzing around and wonder if there might be a ladybug spy post (or two) coming up soon...

Sleep well and I'll see you tomorrow, I hope!

*glomps... see, the glomping goes on even after the con!

Yes, I am home! Although to be honest, when I opened my eyes this morning, I was temporarily disoriented, because I was groggy and expecting to see our room again. *g*

And who needs sleep, indeed! Not us! Honestly, it was just such a treat to share a room in such wonderful company.

And hmmm, yes, I do foresee some ladybug spy posts in the future. After all, nobody's reported on the ball yet, and there certainly were plenty of suspicious duck sightings...

And the glomping never, ever stops. Never. Already, I can't wait for next year!

*glomps* I had a fabulous time with you this weekend. Your fic reading was beautiful and now I absolutely must go and read the rest of the fic.

And WTF to the nutjob on the Deconstructing Romance panel. Welcome to the year 2009, where kissing boys before your One True Love is known to you does not make you a trollop.

Already I has a big, huge jar labeled "Infinitus." I will put in a dollar every time I write smut. Should at least cover the airfare. :p

Ooh, thank you! It was a delight to meet you this weekend, and as I told you, your fic reading was fantastic.

The girl on the Deconstructing Romance panel was one of those sorts who accepts every contradictory word out of JKR's mouth as law and gospel ("JKR said it's this way, so naturally that must be so") and never engages critically with the text. The main thrust of her argument was that there's nothing problematic about the romance in the book, because Ginny only exists to provide Harry with the reward of the Love Of Woman and doesn't need to, you know, be a human being in her own right, and... yeah. So now you know why we walked out. :-P However, the first two panelists were excellent and insightful, so it was still worth attending.

A Smut Jar to raise money for Infinitus! I love it! We should all be doing that. Besides, it would encourage smut writing, right? ;-)

Re: Oh, hi, this IS 2009? bluestocking79 July 21 2009, 19:03:07 UTC
Oh, indeed. Indeed! You would have HATED this panelist; I promise you that. Thankfully, her fellow panelists were very intelligent and perceptive and didn't view feminism as a passing fad.

Besides, those of us who walked out continued a much, much more interesting conversation about the role of Slytherin as the house of feminine mysteries.

Oh jeez, that's horrible about the girl who had the stroke! Thank goodness it didn't happen in the air. Not being able to see Thestrals is actually a good thing. *hugs you* I'm so glad you're home safe and sound! Sweet sweet sleep to you, my dear one!

~big hugs~

The stroke incident was really shocking, to say the least. I'm very glad that we hadn't taken off yet, because we would have lost some precious time. They did let us know that she was in stable condition before we landed, which is good to hear. I have my fingers crossed for her that she'll make a full recovery.

I did sleep, at least a bit! My body clock is all messed up now. I think it will take me a few days to be really back on track, but you know? It's SO worth it. This was a ridiculous amount of fun!

I miss you already, darling! ~squishes you~ And I am already brainstorming about a location for October that combines good food, good beer and a good location.
