Damn. I looked for you at Azkatraz but never did see you. Way too many people to identify just one person, I guess, and there's only so much staring at tiny lettering on name tags that I can do.
I'm glad you had a lovely time and got home safely, despite the drama. And I'm really seriously glad that I missed that Snape panel. Wow, does it sound worse than bad could ever dream of being.
I had a hard time finding you, too! I'm so sorry that I missed you. There's only so much surreptitious glancing that you can do at other people's chests, hoping to find the people you're seeking. (Would it have killed them to make the names larger on the badges, really?) However, I wanted you to know that I did make it to your Cross-Gen panel, though I came in slightly late and wound up in the back, so I couldn't really see you or pick you out! I could only really see Alisanne. In any case, I did really enjoy the panel, and the resulting discussion gave several of us more plot bunnies than we know what to do with
( ... )
On that panel, I was the one in the middle with the dark blonde/light brown hair. I'm so glad that people came out of it with plot bunnies. That means we did our job well. Was it any part of the conversation in particular that caught their/your imagination?
As for the frightening drama, it was wonderful that they let you know she was in stable condition. They don't do that very often at all.
I don't even know what to say about the Snape panel, tbh.
I wrote fanfic, though! Yes, at last, after several months. 2 new shorts, one featuring Snape and the other about the Malfoys. You can read them on my LJ when you get that post-convention blues.
And ooh, new fanfic! I don't know if I've seen you write the Malfoys before, but that sounds great. I am starting to feel the post-Con blues setting in, so that sounds like it might be really welcome right now. :-)
That sounds delightful! So glad you had a wonderful time, and thank you for the post! I would love to see pic!spam of you as Rowena -- I imagine your costume was gorgeous. And this: Ordered a ridiculously overpriced martini for the sheer pleasure of watching a handsome, fit, well-dressed man who knows how to handle a cocktail shaker do his thing (worth every penny) -- well done, you. Very worth it to see that, I'd imagine. Must say, have never seen an expert martini shaker, save my grandmother, and I don't think she really counts for that sort of thing. ;)
Anyhow -- glad to hear you made it back safe! Enjoy your rest & recuperation. *hugs!*
~big hugs~ Thank you, darling! I wish you could have been there. You would have loved the analysis conversations going on. It's so fantastic to be able to bounce ideas off one another in real time
( ... )
Hah! I should have known that would pique your interest. *g*
Honestly, the threat of your talk in any way resembling this debacle is pretty much nil. I won't name names, and I'm reluctant to give too much detail here (though I'd be happy to elaborate in an e-mail to you, if you'd like), but one of the biggest problems in that they just didn't critically engage or analyze anything. It was a very shallow surface reading, they didn't interrogate the text, they didn't unpack any embedded ideas or base their suppositions on a realistic understand of psychology or human emotion. The basic stance was that "everything good about Snape comes from Lily." When asked how Snape could produce a Patronus--particularly a uniquely beautiful and docile and corporeal patronus--without being fundamentally good, the one panelist said, "Uh, I don't know. I guess I thought that was just from Lily or something. That's my opinion

I'm so glad to be back and in touch again! The only thing that could have made it better would be having all of you there. (Especially you!) Thank you again for the Con Envy help over the weekend, too.
Oooh, please tell me you're thinking about Infinitus for next year. It'll be so close, and so much fun... ~tempts~
