Of birthdays and things

Taichou, I hope you liked the gift I gave you. I know it wasn't much and was terribly late, but since you wouldn't tell me anything you like, I hope just having a simple lunch made for you was fine~ ...And I did work my best as always during training, if that's what you wanted to hear also. But you were there, so I guess it's a bit pointless to say ( Read more... )

Thank you, Kentarou-kun, but I'm fine without gifts...or so I'd normally say, but I doubt you'd take that for an answer. A book would suffice. Any kind would be fine, though I am not a huge fan of romance.

To be honest, I'd prefer it not be a big deal. Every year it's big deal and I'd really like it to not be. I assume you've received the invitation by now?

Sorry, Shouta-kun~ But I guess Taichou should be proud of us, because you've just proved that our buddy system is working well enough for us to read each other. I had a feeling you would be happy with books in general, too. And thankfully for you, I'm not good at picking through romance novels either.

...The invitations were already sent? ... ... ...I see. I suppose I'm not really surprised. It's your mother's choice, though, even if she is judging without knowing.

Heh, it does seem that way.

...........I apologize--actually, I take that back. It's good that you didn't get it. You wouldn't have enjoyed yourself there. I'd rather you not go through that, although...it would have made it more bearable if you were around.

You're see-sawing again, Shouta-kun. It makes it harder to figure out what you want when you do that. ...But I'm fine with not going. I've already seen my share of parties where I'm not really welcome by the host here in the capital. Once upon a time I wanted to please people like them, but honestly, if they're not going to try with me despite my best efforts, then it's best if I don't waste my time. I am what I am and will always be a small town man and I'm proud of that. Let them judge me for it if they wish.

Oh my, is that how you ask for a favor? And you nag me about my manners?

Consider it a mix of me being worried and you having a bad influence on me.

And what makes you think I'll tag along if there was something in the air making people sick?

...Because who else is going to tell me that what I'm proposing about the situation is completely wrong?
