I don't know what's up w/ the Pipester. She pisses the carpet all the time

For my dog, that was the first sign of Cushing's disease that I noticed. (To be fair, I noticed his increased thirst but it coincided with my switching him to filtered water when I got a tap filter so I thought it just tasted better.)

Has your vet tested her blood for liver values and cortisol levels?

OMG, those cupcakes are making me hungry. Kahlua vegan cupcakes sound like heaven. Probably for the best that I don't live anywhere near your farmer's market.

Loved, loved, loved last night's Supernatural. Gleeful Dean is such a pleasure to see. I don't think he's been so carefree since some time in S1.

Piper has some type of thyroid problem, but they looked at Cushing's when she first developed it, about two years ago or so. (She was drinking a lot more and wetting the carpet a lot, and one of the tests they did tested her urine and found the water content to be too high.) She's on medication twice a day. I think this is more of a behavioral problem, b/c she's also started to get bold as brass when it comes to checking out the garbage can, and putting her paw on my knee when I'm trying to eat dinner. I've noticed that my grandmother has gotten much crankier in the past couple of years, so I think it's similar -- how humans and dogs can both change a bit as they age. I just wish she could have chosen a less smelly and gross way to act out.

Gleeful Dean warms my very soul. :)

It could be behavioral but increased hunger is a sign of Cushing's and could also explain the behavior. Brinkley makes no secret at checking out the garbage can. FWIW, endocrine problems sometimes cluster. Or she could have an operable adrenal tumor & removal could clear it up entirely. Or it could also be something else entirely. If all they looked at was the urine, I wouldn't feel comfortable that they'd done a proper check ( ... )

I have made a couple icons from the episode, but I'm waiting for someone w/ SKILLS to make Dean-in-a-hat icon w/ good lighting and everything. ;)

Piper just had blood tests again at her check-up a month ago. She's TERRIBLE to get blood from, and we had to do it twice! I almost cried. I felt so terrible for her. But at any rate, she did just have blood tests and we adjusted her medication. Everything she's been doing lately -- the begging for food, the drinking, the pissing -- she has always done. She's just ramped up all her behavior. We'll monitor her for a bit more and see if it ramps up even more. Thanks for all your advice and things to look out for. It's not paranoid at all b/c bad stuff can grow from tiny things. We must be vigilant -- it's not like they can talk to us and tell us what's wrong.

Is Piper drinking lots of water? My dog Lucky developed that problem and was also drinking a LOT, and he was diagnosed with kidney disease.

Piper has always been an utter lush. So she does drink a lot, but she has not changed the amount she drinks. If this keeps up, though, we'll have to do something more drastic. We've changed some of our behaviors to help her, and it has, but there's still the pissing out of spite or whatever.

She really is an adorable dog! Just a pain in the ass lately.

I had a cat once that did that. She would be fine and then she's do stuff like pee on my bed or on my clothes when I was at work. Ugh.

So much absolute word about SPN. It made me as happy as Dean was happy. ;) Also Misha lied to me about the hugging! ... though well, okay, maybe that wasn't what he thought I meant when I asked him at jib, lol.

Also oh my those cupcakes. WHY DON'T I LIVE SOMEWHERE WHERE SHIPPING TO THE CONTINENTAL US DOESN'T TAKE ONE MONTH? I'd totally eat some of those. Or go in your farmer's market if they give you a license. ;)

<-- Counts as a hug in my book! LOL.

Well, when I win the lottery and go to JIB next year, I will somehow find a way to bring you baked goods. So cross your fingers that I win! ;)

First, good luck with the health dept thing. I hope it all goes smoothly and quickly and you can start selling those cupcakes :)

Poor piper - has she been checked for Diabetes? that's what happened to our dog - she started having accidents and we found out she had diabetes and her blood sugar was all out of whack. I hope she gets better/stops it soon though. *HUGS*

She has the one disease that we know of and she's taking her pills. But now I'm getting worried about all these other diseases, instead of it being just a behavior thing. We'll keep an eye out and see if we need to take her back to the vet. They did blood tests last month, but I'm sure they didn't check for EVERYTHING.
