Wow, I can't get over how exotic and GORGEOUS the Orientals are. Both Nemo and Macavity - I keep just staring at their fur colors, they're so different and beautiful. Jelly's stunning too! I'm lucky to be able to see pictures of such rare kitties :)
Really glad Crow is doing well too! I don't think his haircut is so bad :)
Your cats are so gorgeous! I don't suppose you might document the introduction of Nemo to the birds in some detail? I know sometimes you do, but one of our cats has a much higher prey drive than the other, and I have to watch her or know where she is in the room CONSTANTLY or she's suddenly over bothering the bird cage, and I'm just not sure how to make her stop. I've tried squirt bottles, I've tried banning her from the room when she gets too interested, and I have an upside-down office mat with the spiky bits pointing up under Sage's cage right now, which makes her less interested... but still. I'd like to see how someone who really knows their cats and birds deals with it. I understood introducing the dogs to the concept of "don't eat that feathery thing", but the cats... not so much.
Do your cats like treats? I'm a big fan of treating for good behaviour, and I'm doing a lot more of that these days.
Also, how bold is Sage about things? A parrot nipping at a cat can be very effective.
I can (and will) show the introductions, but it'll be a while -- I don't generally even bother with out of cage introductions until a kitten is a year old.
They do love treats, and they like attention, so I try to give them attention when they're being good. I should use the treats more often, probably, and see what happens. It's hard to apply behavior shaping to cats, because I feel like I don't understand what's going on in their brains, but I suppose the theory is the same whether you're working with cats or dogs or giraffes or parrots. :P I just need to consider the logic a bit better I think
