Hawkes was consistently surprised at his ability to be surprised-he had always assumed by now that he wouldn’t be as disgusted as he still managed to be.

Love wasn’t a hard emotion for him, it never had been, and when it came to her she seemed to make it even easier.

He was running himself ragged from all angles, with two jobs under his belt, but he just couldn’t stop, no matter how much he may have wanted to.

The whole team was grieving, but if they were grieving together, they would be stronger for it, and he hoped that they all knew that.

He tried to go to the trial in support of the friend who found himself at a rough place in his life, but halfway through the opening statement, he just couldn’t listen anymore-he couldn’t stand to hear how far his friend had fallen.
