Self control gone for the evening

Sep 19, 2005 20:51

I used up every bit of self control that I possess not strangling my child tonight. It's gone. There will be no watching calories tonight. oh no. In fact, the rum came out right before dinner, and it's not going back in the freezer until I'm good and buzzed. So here's the story:

Long story )

kids, meltdown, alcohol

You did the right thing. I often behaved the same way when I was a kid and I've underestimated how much stress and anxiety I used to put my parents through.

I hope you feel better =)

"I chased her down the street at least 3 times, took away things with which she was trying to harm herself, replaced the screen on her window, and made a meatloaf.

BEST SENTENCE EVAR!

You did the right thing on two fronts: You diffused the situation (albeit in a long drawn out manner) and you resisted the powerful urge to strike in anger. Good for you.

Not being a parent, nevermind a parent of a child with severe behavioral problems, I can't imagine what it must be like.

and you DIDN'T hurt her, you tried your best to keep her safe. YOu can do it, I guess you have to.
Hopefully this is one of those bad days that blows over. Enjoy your stiff drink, take a breath and hope tomorrow is smoother.

Like I said in the other forum, I'm so sorry that this happened. You are not hurting her. You are exactly what she needs. Enjoy your drink (wish I had some rum!) and your ice cream. You have certainly earned them. If there is anything at all that I can do, just let me know.
