I've. Been on topamax for a month ar 150 Mg for the month before I was put on depakote (150mg 2x a day) . I want to talk to my neurologist about supping it to 200mg twice a day & see if that helps. And the weight loss would be a major plus :) I gained ~12 lbs -15lbs taking depakote and lyrica (the lyrica is for nerve pain around my stomach - I have a ton of scar tissue and it presses on the nerves - side effect weight gain) . Thanks!
I had a similar issue - I quit the atypicals because I was scared of weight gain. I tried telling my pdoc I wanted a counteractive medication to deal with the potential extra poundage and he said no... So he gave me Klonopin to see if that worked as a replacement.
It depends on you and what works with your brain and body chemistry. You're right, every one of those sites will list terrible side effects people have had

I had to quit taking the depakote because it was making me constantly nauseous and I was throwing up 2-3 times a day, which was causing me to get more migraines. So I'm back on 150mg topamax 2x a day. Which doesn't seem to be helping much.

Why not look into Topamax? Its for migraines but also BPD, and it helps many people lose weight too.

My friend once said, " you can be fat and happy or depressed and skinny". It's always made me giggle because it rings true a lot of time....
