so...
dyeing isn't quite going to plan.
I used the method suggested by badylugz, but the wool didn't take up all the dye and so it isn't quite the colour i was aiming for and i also feel i don't want to pour the rest of the dye down the drain if there's any way i can still get it into the wool instead!
I do have extra dye powder, but yeah..

but here's photos ( Read more... )

Huh. So, not like that documentary on the middle ages then, where you had to stomp on the wool in the pee of local townsfolk in order to age it, or whatever the heck they were trying to do...

Adelaide water is a little hard, perhaps that's slowing it down? Or were you a little too impatient?

Guess google has lots of info such as eHow here: http://www.ehow.com/how_14861_dye-wool-naturally.html - but you've probably already read that.

Good luck, though :)

Oh, right, Melbourne. Well, I have absolutely no idea :)

I'd be surprised if the absorption was all that quick. I'd have thought you'd want to wait for it to really soak in, but again, totally not my field. Heh.

is it 100% wool? becaue if it's acrylic or a blend or something, it won't take the dye properly.

:P
it's 100% natural fibres and the test swatch is the same yarn, so whatever that did, the other balls should do too!
