The chapter begins with David beginning his journey back home to Blunderstone from Yarmouth. Peggotty is with him of course and climbs into the cart through a hedge which greatly suprises David. This chapter talks about David's return home from Yarmouth. He is quite sad about having to leave little Em'ly behind and at one point wonders whether he's falled in love with her. The chapter starts by discussing David's transport to Yarmouth. Peggotty goes with him as Ham is her nephew and she doesn't see him very often so she snatches at any oppurtunity to. In the second chapter, the story develops more as an insight into David's thoughts and personality as being an infant in the first chapter, there isn't much that can be said about him as a person. These developments occur because the novel is now being told from David's point of view. At this point he is a small child but still capable of thinking.
