New personal canon! (let me share my madness)

Oct 13, 2010 22:18

We all have our own personal canons with Star Trek, specifically K/S. I know there are those who believe Kirk and Spock were accidentally bonded during the events of Amok Time and others who believe Kirk and Spock sexed each other up during the actual mission. My favorite conspiracy theories are the ones that revolve around the lost years, the time ( Read more... )

slash, the world according to bigmamag, their love is oh so canon, space husbands

Wriiiiiite it. I don't know if it's been done, but why should that stop anyone? If fandom only wrote things once there would only be one pon farr story, and that would be sad.

(I've only read the profic about the Lost Years, so I don't know much about fanfic in that time period. Usually I don't go looking for it because Kirk and Spock can't be together and that is saaaaad.)

Ffffff, I may have to later on, though I'm not good at things that are flat-out depressing. And yes, VERY SAD TIME PERIOD. I'm sure babies wept harder those years and more puppies were drowned. There was an imbalance in the whole friggen universe. /drama

Save it to write when you're sad, then? On the plus side, the whole universe gets better when there's handholding in sickbay, right?

...hey, are you doing Yuletide this year? It's nomination season.

Eh, probably not this year. I'm sort of burned out with writing. I dunno, maybe in a couple of weeks or so I'll get the urge again, maybe decide that I really want a fic in some random small fandom and will be forced to pony up a fic myself to get it, lol.

CONVERTERS, YES. :D

You are me, totally, because that phrase "I need my pain!" popped into my head too, though it didn't make it into the text up there. It not only makes sense with how they come into TMP (damn, talk about a complete change of attitude from both of them with no real explanation) but it would make the inclusion of that scene in Requiem for Methusaleh actually have a purpose. I mean, it made no sense with Spock's character and with how they've treated other deaths on the show, and it would be so cool if that was the seed planted for future angst.

IMO Kirk would be ok with Rayna news. I mean that 'i need my pain' was about that our experiences make us people we are today, even worst ones, painful, because thanks to them you always learn something. But what kind of experience Kirk got from story with Rayna? I can't come with any, IMHO it's only about Kirk facing his worst nightmare - seeing what may happen to Spock if he starts pushing his feelings on Spock. It's just a bad dream that holds Kirk's fears. But this kind of dreams we forget upon waking up or few days later so Spock just helped Kirk to forget that nightmare.

But I think it's more than just a matter of the ends justify the means or whether the memory was important or not. I mean, you must remember that Kirk won't remember Rayna, therefore how is he to know whether he loved her as much as, say, Edith? That's for Kirk to decide, not for someone else to decide for him. Yes, Spock melded, saw what was, and changed it, but if I were Kirk, I personally wouldn't want anyone deciding what's important to me FOR me, even someone I cared about more than anyone else.

Plus, it opens up another issue altogether: how is Kirk to trust that Spock only did this once? Yes Spock told the truth when confronted about it, but otherwise he lied by omission for a long time and so if Spock betrayed him once, who's to say, logically, that he won't do it again? Of course we know Spock wouldn't, but there is trust lost nevertheless, and it's devastating when you reflect on how Spock is known for his loyalty.

I could see it as Spock never mentioning it to Kirk too, letting it make him guilty for years. I've heard people say that Spock's leaving was because he was ashamed of the loss of control and how human Kirk made him, so really a TON of theories can fit. And I LOVE that resolution for the 'accidental bond' scenario. Personally, I don't really hold to the theory, but I do love the idea that him going through kolinahr was another guilt thing for accidentally bonding with Jim, wanting Jim to be free and not selfishly keeping him near.

And yes, if anyone ever has doubt of it, these two are MEN who are notorious for being emotionally stunted and unable to show affection right. SLAPS ON THE BACK AND COMPLIMENTING A DUDE'S LOGIC IS NOT DISCUSSING HOW YOU WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH THEM DAILY.

yep
but i totally see Jim feeling rejected (because Spock must to know he loves him, and guilty because he never say nothing to make Spock stay with him. So the angst!

double angst if he feel how the accidental bond is being severed without him want it if he knew about it.

and Spock is totes angsting because he manipulate Jim's mind and he doesn't deserve being close to jim, and he can't be only his friend anymore

double if he feels guilty because an accidental bond and all

they were so stupid and lost too much time!!!

but they are Epic Love. and epic love always find it's way!

Your head!canon is beautiful! I can't imagine that Kirk would be too enthused about someone poking around in his head and deleting things without his permission, even if that someone was Spock (perhaps especially if it was Spock), so your theory is very believable. My head!canon is much more convoluted than yours, so I may just adopt this one [or somehow merge it with mine and get an even bigger headache (but it's a slashy headache so it's okay!)].

I was just sitting here, thinking space husbandly thoughts...

WHAT A WONDERFUL PASTIME!

OT: The trailer for CP's Unstoppable just came on and I am now filled with squee from this post and that!

That I would love to see, Spock acting nuts.

I sort of do and don't want an explanation. I mean, without an explanation, you get to make up your own, which is an asset to slash fans. But then again, with how Star Trek slash is IN canon, I wouldn't worry too much a canon explanation either. :D
