K/S slash fun: Spectre of the Gun

Apr 22, 2010 08:46

So weeks and weeks ago I wrote up a thing on Spectre of the Gun, but livejournal ate it. Now I write out long entries like that on google docs first and finally enough time has finally passed in which I feel like talking about it again. This is actually sort of long because I'm getting way too versed in TOS and so I make connections like a Connect ( Read more... )

meta, picspam, their love is oh so canon, space husbands, 40 years too late episode reaction

Man... I don't think I've ever seen this episode. Now I'll totally have to.

I'm actually in total shock, because I always assume you know everything there is to know about Star Trek, lol. I envy your brain and how widely-read you are.

Heh. Aww, thank you. I actually haven't seen a lot of S3 (other than, like, "The Enterprise Incident," because how could I miss that?) because I figured it was all, like, space hippies and general stupidity. I will have to remedy this.

UNF, Nimoy's voice. Seriously, it's a thing of beauty. And well damn, if I didn't see sexual innuendo in that meld before, I sure as shit do now. We are of like mind, my friend. \o/

Heh, I like to think Spock and McCoy had a kind of mutual man crush going. It's like two little boys throwing sticks at each other but when one gets a stick in the eye, the other gives them a band aid and their juice box at lunch, all the while calling them a clumsy idiot. ♥

Blasphemy! Shun the non believer! :P I pretty much agree with all your points, except the being familiar with Jim's mind, because when I looked up the episode I noticed that this one came before The Paradise Syndrome, so actually this is their first official mind meld. And I contend that it's not so much what they're doing or how Spock speaks as much as it is the angles. I mean, I find it fascinating that they chose to film at such angles. I understand making them all look different and having Spock look more worn down, but the camera sweep, the camera sweep! Doesn't help that at this angle, it looks like Spock is practically caressing Spock's face. If they had changed angles, it wouldn't look nearly as suggestive.

And yep, your view just as slashy, lol. I love how we still arrive at epic slash regardless of different opinions. All roads lead to Spork!

I LOVE YOUT META! ALL OF THEM. THIS IS MY CONFESSION OF UNDYING LOVE FOR YOUR ST METAS.

you're absolutely right that Kirk is the only one whom Spock allows to see his human part. even though Kirk loves teasing Spock about emotions he never does in agressive way. it's just teasing. Spock alway plays Vulcan card. BUT. The very moment there's something wrong with Kirk, when Kirk needs emotional support - Spock's always THERE. I mean in PILOT EPISODE Spock being all the vulcan the whole episode during last few minutes of the shows says to sad Kirk 'i felt for him too'. SPOCK ADMITS HE HAS FEELING. and not like 'yeah, vulcans do have feelings but we suppress and ignore it' - Spock says that he has feelings and he feels bad for Mitchell like right nao. and he does it not to prove some point. He does it to make Kirk feel better.

and YES. KIRK IS ALWAYS THERE TO DEFEND HIS BF's HONOR. He shuts up everyone. BTW that's been happenning right from the very beginnig as well - remember scene where doctor Dehner was very nasty with Spock? yep, ( ... )

:D I do try to write acceptable meta.

I love that about Spock, about how he lets Kirk see his humanity and no one else. And also, if you notice, there are lots of times when McCoy looks at Spock and Spock will go to comfort Kirk, like McCoy knows that, somehow, Spock can set Kirk at ease. ♥

Oh yes, definitely with Kirk protecting Spock. My favorite is him dressing Riley down on the bridge during Balance of Terror for being bigoted about Spock.

Hope your shower was refreshing. ;)

here's small detail that i cannot agree with Turnabout Intruder ... Kirk acknowledging that Spock is closer to him than anyone in the universe. IMHO Kirk was either saying out loud smth he had already told Spock once or smth they had both known w/t needing even to say it out loud. I mean in that exact scene Kirk's task was to convince Spock, to prove to him that he's Jim and not some random evil bitch - so he had to think of what to say, he had to say smth they BOTH KNOW so that Spock would believe it's actually Jim before him ( ... )

I definitely meant know his thoughts because he's close to the captain than anyone in the universe. I mean, he says Spock knows his thoughts after first saying Spock's closer to him than anyone in the universe, and only ends with 'what does you telepathic mind tell you now?' to give Spock permission to meld with him ( ... )

I love how in the 3rd meld Spock's head is inclined, which is basic flirting behaviour! ♥♥♥

Hell, all of their interactions are basic flirting behavior. :D But really, the inclined head, the angle of how he's holding Kirk's face, the voice, that camera sweep? If they were not trying to make it look romantic, they're doing it wrong.
