Fanon and an actual mature request

-- I know there are, like, a billion things that Kirk/Spock writers regard as fanon that has no canon basis, but my current confusion is in regard to Jim being allergic to everything. The only two real pieces of canon in which it explicitly states that Kirk has an allergic reaction is in Wrath of Khan with Kirk being allergic to the stuff that will ( Read more... )

May I suggest the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series? It is five books, but it's YA and they are quick and easy reads. It's a plus if you like Greek mythology. And they're way better than the movie.

I do love Greek mythology. I'll probably give that a read, since I also am a fan of YA and I've heard things about the series. ;)

I find it really odd when ficwriters portray Kirk as being allergic to absolutely everything, he might as well live in a bubble then.

LOL THAT MACRO XD his little chicken legs, so adorbs.

I know, right? I mean, I can stand it when it's a couple of things or something random that no one else in the world would be allergic to because James T. Kirk beats all the odds. :P But when we start talking about him always having to have an epi pen around, then I start sighing heavily.

Oh man, his widdle chicken legs, LOL. It's the only unattractive thing on him to me, and it's still not a bad feature at all, just adorkable. ♥

The best fiction I have ever read is probably one you can get at the library. It's a series, actually. And it is PHENOMENAL, although not easy in the least. It's by Dorothy Dunnett and is known as The Lymond Chronicles. If you like Supernatural and Star Trek then I think you'll like these - the emotional core is all about love of family. I can't even express how much I love these books. They feature a hero who is brilliant and enigmatic and irritating and awesome. A warning, though. It took me THREE tries before I could get through the first book. It's easier after that.

Okay, I'll shut up now. LOL.

I may try that a little later, because I want to try a less brainy book first, lol. Kind of like putting the training wheels back on for a bit. I'll probably enjoy it immensely.

It is a pretty brainy series!! Perfect when you want something meaty, but not so great if you want fluff, lol.
