Olympic Figure Skating for Dummies Vol III: The Pairs

Feb 10, 2014 10:24

In 2006 and 2010 I did skating info posts on the contenders for those who don't follow the sport closely. Since I write an info cheat sheet every Olympics for my friend, I'm keeping up the tradition. This year I'm going to do four separate posts for the events. First up: the pairs ( Read more... )

Your thoughts and possible podium finishers all sound about right. I think pairs is going to be an exciting competition. I'm so proud of Meagan and Eric and Kirsten and Dylan. I saw Dylan compete with his sister a number of years ago in Halifax and I was impressed. In Kirsten, he has found a great partner.

it's generally accepted that they are banging

Oh those Russians! lol So many pairs, including dance teams, take their work home with them.

Just getting ready to watch a recap of today's events! :D

I look forward to more thoughts and podium possibilities!

Have you watched today? Very tight competition for that bronze medal! Lots of great skates, and I agree about our Canadians. Proud of them, and Dylan/Kirsten are a great pair.

Those Russians! LOL. Love them. :D

Look forward to your thoughts!

Thank you, as always for you insights. Too bad our NBC broadcast is unlikely to broadcast all the programs, as they failed to in the team events. Hopefully after the Olympics are over and some of the viewing bans are lifted I can catch any ones missed which were worth watching.

You're welcome! Thank you for commenting. :)

I really hope NBC will have good coverage, but...not confident. Fingers crossed for YouTube!

Yep, NBC did their usual crap job of showing skating. They showed the two American couples, Duhamel and Radford, Pang and Tong, Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy, and, of course, Volosozhar and Trankov but no one else. Apparently, we don't need to see anyone who isn't either American or likely to win a metal. Grrr.

On the plus side, Volosozhar and Trankov were SPECTACULAR. Also I enjoyed the pink panther routine more than expected, even if that neon-pink outfit is atrocious.

I really wish NBC would do more than 3 hours of coverage. :/

LOL about Aliona's pink! They have worn some truly hideous costumes in their time. It's part of their charm. ;)
