even transgendered folk have leapfrogged from the bottom rung of the queer community past bisexuals

hey, you know what? fuck you.

you do realize that trans people also have sex and can also be non-monosexual, right?

and that whether or not we have some visibility at a god damn awards ceremony as the pink poodles of the champagne cisgay community makes fuck-all of a difference in the actual lived reality of most trans people, right?

and that a cis bisexual person who engages in heterosexual relationships automatically has a metric fuckton more systemic privilege than my queer tranny ass ever will?

somebody call the fucking whaaaambulance for this self-important douchebag. meanwhile i'll be contemplating a "biphobic" discrimination policy w/r/t the ass in my life.

Yeah, really... he sounds resentful that TG people are "getting ahead of" bisexuals in the movies. Like they don't know "their place" or something.

Also damn those lazy bi people doing grassroots work. I guess they didn't work hard enough to be able to afford large nationwide campaigns. Money grows on trees, you know.

Yeah, and it's not like, you know, there are more important things to worry about, such as, you know, same-sex marriage, or not getting fired from jobs or discriminated against in housing, or getting attacked physically... Everybody who's G, L, B, or T should stop worrying about such petty concerns and devote every dollar and second henceforth to making sure bisexuals are properly represented in the movies.

While I agree with you that bisexuality should not be swept under the carpet, I take issue with:

But the bisexual community? Well, we have done shit to promote and support mainstream images of bi themed movies, shows, characters or performers. So busy with self promotion and supporting local, grassroot pet projects that when someone comes out as bi we read about it in some blog, it hits the media for one day and then back to our potlucks we go.

Yeah, this is all the bisexual communities fault. It's not the fault of say, an ignorant society who loves to spread myths about what bisexuals are (we just want to steal your partner/we're greedy/we don't exist/we're just doing it to titillate people.) That you point the finger at the bi community for this seems to me to ignore the bigger issue at hand.

And what do you mean by "even" trans people? Switch that to even "even bisexuals" and you might see where I'm coming from. Or am I being "too PC?"

The transgendered comment was actually meant to show how impressively the trans community has mobilized themselves and made real strides in the media. I was using that as an example of what the bisexual community has NOT done. I was attacking my community for it's malaise NOT the transgendered community. Please accept my apologies if these comments offended or hurt.

Yes, what happened in the GLAAD awards was a hard thing for us, but let's not give up! It shouldn't be over. As long as WE believe in ourselves just as much as they believe in themselves, nothing will be lost. This was just a DEFINITE wake up call. We have got to come together and engage! If we have to "come out" all over again so be it. Support are Bi actors/actresses,musicians, athletes, writers, engineers, teachers, coffee shop owners, starbucks employees, car wash attendants, students, the kid in karate class... you get my point. We could ALSO use more support from these people... everyone. We shouldn't be ashamed. One of my favorite musician who I think helps us in a big way is Lady Gaga. Also my fav celebrity trainer, Jillian Michaels. Love them both. Love yourself and support who you are. My name is Kathie Arzate and I am Bisexual! Anyone else?
