[I KNOW all the posts, and I'm putting up the party post after I put this one up, but I just figured out Lucky's second shapeshifting form, and I needed this in my life. ;_;]
There was a small boy that looked exactly like Jake. Lucky saw him, and he was struck by the similarities. The same eyes, same smile, the same everything. It's like someone

Demons? Yes. Hell gods? Sure. Vampires? Absolutely. Polar bears? Polar bears were a whole other level of bad. Mostly because they aren't bad. They're just animals, and you can't really reason with an animal.
Regardless, Buffy is now staring down a polar bear, and she feels that panic rising in her chest. She's trying to squash it, because as much as she could shift into her elephant form, she can't control it, and she doesn't like making use of things she can't control. So instead she's just trying to fight her way loose of the mob of people running away, and in the end, it's her tumbling to the ground, tucking her head to avoid getting trampled.
That avoidance doesn't help. Suddenly she's expanding, growing, until there's enough of her that people can't go anywhere but around her. By the time she's finished, there's an elephant standing in the middle of street, right in front of the polar bear ( ... )

This is definitely not a fox.
He is not a fox.
For one, all his limbs are heavy. HE is heavy. He's fat and covered in fur and hot. It is summer. This is not proper weather for a polar bear.
And to top it all off, somehow in the middle of him trying to explore his giant body, he got distracted and did not notice the sudden elephant. There are all kinds of new smells and sights, and he pushes himself back on to all fours with... quite a bit of effort.
He tilts his head to the side quizzically.
What is an elephant doing here?
And he tries to step forward but is not used to his legs yet and falls directly into the car, denting it. A little.
OOPS. SAD POLAR BEAR IS SAD.

This is so not how she wanted to spend her day.
And she really liked that top she was wearing.
There's a soft trumpet as she takes a step closer, to get a better look at the polar bear.

This is not the way he wanted to spend his day either.
He stumbles back again, flops on his back with his paws up, and he can't... right himself.
The elephant trumpets.
And the polar bear makes a sound from his position... on his back. Whatever sound polar bears make when they are not angry but trying to communicate.

And they'd be right.
But Phoebe isn't exactly the smartest crayon in the box. Plus, she just wants to be helpful.
And then she sees a sad polar bar. It is indeed sad. Did it fall through the Rift?
SHE WANTS TO KEEP IT.
"OH MY GOD, A POLAR BEAR," she cries out loudly. Phoebe, he's a large bear, he's not deaf. "YOU ARE THE CUTEST AND SADDEST POLAR BEAR EVER. WHO'S THE CUTEST POLAR BEAR?"
Reply
He is huge. It has taken him this whole time to try to figure out what he is. There are very intense smells. All of his limbs feel heavier than normal and that doesn't begin to describe how his whole body feels. It's summer so the sun is beating down on him, and polar bears are not made for heat!
Lucky heaves himself back up on to all four feet and then... cannot get his legs to work properly so he ends up flopping. And that is how Phoebe finds him, flopped in the middle of the street.
Is this girl for serious?
The polar bear is (uncertain), but Lucky is happy to not be alone... and she doesn't look like she's mean and he doesn't want to eat her.
He sighs.
And then starts sniffing the air around her. It is polar bear instinct.

It's not like it can be any smaller!
And discriminating for size is not cool, America.
"You must be wanting snow," Phoebe says sympathetically, taking a step forward. She does so tentatively--she's not a total idiot--and she can run fast, especially with her wings out, if it gets a bit testy on her. She doesn't think it will, though.
IT LOOKS SO SAD. And it must not be dealing well with this climate.
"I'D LOVE TO KEEP YOU. WHAT SHOULD I NAME YOU? I THINK I'M GONNA NAME YOU COOLIO."
Yeah, she's sort of shouting these things since the polar bear is so tall and that apparently means she needs to yell instead of talk.

He can not be any smaller.
Well, he could if he could figure out how to shift back into a human. His clothes are completely destroyed and not even around anymore. They were ripped into shreds and caught by the wind.
The polar bear is looking quizzically at this girl. Lucky does not want to be a pet, not as a polar bear... or as anything else. Honest. The polar bear pushes itself back up on to its paws, lumbering forward not dangerously so.
Since Lucky will not let the polar bear eat anyone! EVER.
Coolio.
The polar bear tilts its head to the side before sniffing closer. This is the smell of a... whoever this person is.
Coolio?
Lucky's brain is trying to think. Bar. Crowbar. He needs to get to the Crowbar. They will know what to do. They will know how to help him, and he needs... a seal ( ... )

"Teddy bear teddy bear go upstairs, teddy bear teddy bear say your prayers," she says to him, and then reaches out towards his massive head. Though she's covered in blood, some of it her own, she doesn't intend to hurt him. She's looking him directly in the eye sympathetically.
If he'll let her, she'll cradle his head in her hands and press her forehead to his. "Teddy bear teddy all alone, teddy bear teddy bear take me home," she whispers.
Reply
He sniffs her when she reaches out for him. There is blood. The bear smells the blood, and it shakes its head but doesn't make any move to run or to fight against it. Lucky is doing all he can to suppress the bear's predator nature, which is why he is more bear than Lucky at the moment.
But the bears lets her cradle his head, and he shakes his head in her hands, sniffing her up and down. She smells like blood but something else that he can't place. The polar bear licks her face, big rough tongue. Tastes like blood which means that Lucky has to fight harder to suppress the predator urges.

"Pretty pretty pretty bear," she whispers, running her hands along his face. "Pretty bear baby bear mama bear this chair is too small."
She moves along from his face to bunch her hands up in the fur along his side. She has a plan--it might not be a very smart one, but she can give the bear a home if she can lead him to one.
So yeah, Lucky. That's a tiny Rakshasa trying to climb up onto your back. Have fun with that.

However, the polar bear is not used to someone... getting on top of him, and he may be very confused.
As soon as Scout does, the polar bear starts running in one direction. WHAT IS THIS ON MY BACK? WHAT? Lucky is trying to gain back control. He really is. HANG ON TIGHT, SCOUT.
Polar bear is coming through.

She smiles slightly when his paw goes around her and she hugs him tighter.
"It's okay. I'm here. Everything will be okay."
She isn't too sure what she's supposed to say, but she does know that those are the kind of words people say when they're trying to comfort someone. She doesn't think a polar bear would want to hear it any less than normal people.

The paws slide down again and he nods his head.
Everything will be okay. Yes!
Someone talked to him.
Everyone is not running away! These are good things!
He falls back on his behind and sits, sniffing around for FOOD. Because a polar bear is big and hungry.
