[I KNOW all the posts, and I'm putting up the party post after I put this one up, but I just figured out Lucky's second shapeshifting form, and I needed this in my life. ;_;]

There was a small boy that looked exactly like Jake. Lucky saw him, and he was struck by the similarities. The same eyes, same smile, the same everything. It's like someone ( Read more... )

Scout isn't afraid of roaring. Or bears, apparently. Because she slowly approaches the polar bear with her head tilted to the side.

"Teddy bear teddy bear go upstairs, teddy bear teddy bear say your prayers," she says to him, and then reaches out towards his massive head. Though she's covered in blood, some of it her own, she doesn't intend to hurt him. She's looking him directly in the eye sympathetically.

If he'll let her, she'll cradle his head in her hands and press her forehead to his. "Teddy bear teddy all alone, teddy bear teddy bear take me home," she whispers.

Lucky is so confused. The polar bear is also very, very confused. He remains seated there beside the car as he looks at her with that confusion on his face.

He sniffs her when she reaches out for him. There is blood. The bear smells the blood, and it shakes its head but doesn't make any move to run or to fight against it. Lucky is doing all he can to suppress the bear's predator nature, which is why he is more bear than Lucky at the moment.

But the bears lets her cradle his head, and he shakes his head in her hands, sniffing her up and down. She smells like blood but something else that he can't place. The polar bear licks her face, big rough tongue. Tastes like blood which means that Lucky has to fight harder to suppress the predator urges.

Scout giggles at the bear's giant tongue, and wipes her face where he licked her.

"Pretty pretty pretty bear," she whispers, running her hands along his face. "Pretty bear baby bear mama bear this chair is too small."

She moves along from his face to bunch her hands up in the fur along his side. She has a plan--it might not be a very smart one, but she can give the bear a home if she can lead him to one.

So yeah, Lucky. That's a tiny Rakshasa trying to climb up onto your back. Have fun with that.

Lucky is shoving down the predator in the bear so he has no idea that the bear is like WEE, friend! Without the predator instinct, he is pretty social animal. He likes being pet.

However, the polar bear is not used to someone... getting on top of him, and he may be very confused.

As soon as Scout does, the polar bear starts running in one direction. WHAT IS THIS ON MY BACK? WHAT? Lucky is trying to gain back control. He really is. HANG ON TIGHT, SCOUT.

Polar bear is coming through.

Oddly enough, Scout isn't freaked at all when the bear underneath her legs takes off. She bunches her hands into fists, clinging to his fur and squeezing his sides with her legs. She's beaming.

Yes, she likes riding him around. He is now her polie and they are going to take on the city together. Or something.

"Ride 'em yeah cowboy!" she hollers, digging her heels into his sides. "Giddy-up! Yeah!"

The polar bear keeps sprinting in the opposite direction through cars and then on to the sidewalk. People start running and screaming in the other directions, because there's someone on a polar bear who is running down the sidewalk.

However, Lucky still does not have very good control of the legs. He is trying to slow down and he ends up crashing into the side of one of the cars.

Oops.

There's this thing about things in motion. They will remain in motion until a force acts upon them. In this case, the car may stop Lucky but it does not stop the motion of Scout, who goes flying off the giant polar bear's back and out into the street.

She lands on her forearms, skinning them badly, black blood beading up where skin has been ripped away. She lets out a yelp of pain and rolls back towards the bear. There are tears in her eyes, but that's primarily a physiological reaction. Her palms are skinned badly too, and there's blood on them as she presses them into the bear's fur.

She's not back to the level of words yet. Right now she's just whimpering softly, trying not to be too loud.

The polar bear is not okay with this.

Actually, the polar bear was not aware of much of anything.

However, Lucky is not okay with this! This nearly killing someone! The not-okayness of Lucky, it slides over into the polar bear, and he approaches her as she approaches him.

There is whining.

The polar bear is very sorry, Scout. He did not mean to make you fall and get hurt!

Scout isn't hurt very very badly. It just... hurts, her palms and elbows and knees. And her head, but that's not bleeding at all.

She makes a sort of soothing noise in her throat though, gripping the bear's fur tightly again, leaving black beads of it behind as she touches him and lets him know she's okay.

She gets back to the front of the bear and nuzzles, rubbing her face against the top of his head. "S'alright," she tells it. "S'okay, yeah bear Winnie the Pooh bear?"

Lucky looks--

The polar bear looks very confused about being referred to as Winnie the Pooh, but he cannot really express this confusion. He tilts his head to the side but shakes it instead.

Well, she can name him whatever she wants to.

Since he is a polar bear with no way of expressing his actual name.

He places an arm around her back for a one sided hug when she nuzzles him.

This one sided hug turns into a full out hug from Scout as she buries her face in his fur again. This was a good adventure, even if she got hurt. She reaches for his face, breathing heavily into his nose.

“Scout,” she tells him seriously. That’s her name, Scout, and now that he knows what she smells like, they’ll be able to find one another again. After all,how many polar bears are there in Chicagoland anyway?

That’s how it works in her head, anyway. Reality may be something totally different.

The polar bear nods at the Scout. Lucky knows it is her name even if the polar bear is unable to tell name from... anything else. The polar bear is like Whee, human is making a weird noise!

But Lucky realize that it is her name so he'll know it when he runs into her later as a human.

AHEM.

Yeah, funny thing about that. It's not like Scout's going to rememeber Lucky as a human. She'll probably be pretty freaked out if they meet.

Of course, that's probably only going to encourage that Powers That Be of Chicago that they should meet again.

She looks him in the eye again, nods, then slips from his grasp and goes out into the crowds of Chicago, leaving Lucky the polar bear there on the street.

That's just how she rolls.
